People did not have to infer that you were a first time CPAPer. You point blank stated it:

Because you don't like sharing your success with others?
More than a little embarrassed by how hard you try to keep harassing the guest.

I thought most people would be able to infer that I was a first time CPAP user based upon the comments in my original post. So you are correct, the F&P Icon+ did not "literally change my life", it was the treatment of a underlying sleep disorder.

I should have left out any non-essential descriptions to avoid confusion.

So in answer to the original question, "Any one use the F&P Icon+?" my new answer is , "Yes".

As an added bonus you have now reminded me why I rarely participate in online forums or discussions.
Hehe yeah its true I hear you there.

Actually [shh dont tell the others] you had the best reply!

Because you were looking for someone to validate your bias for the cheaper machine. You weren't really looking for unbiased information.

I've owned a F&P machine. It had a great motor - very steady and very quiet.

But I would not get one again. I don't mind paying a couple of dollars per month more over the life of the machine to get a PR or ResMed machine.

We used it some at the DME I worked. We (the therapist) much preferred the Respironics or the Resmed machines. No particular reason but it seemed to us that the F&P wasn't as good as the other manufacturers (with the cpap). Their mask have improved a lot lately with the Eson and Simplus mask being very good (IMO). If I were in your shoes I would pay a little extra and get the models most people (and repair comapnies) use and know.

I have experience with all three brands and agree with this advice.

My original machine was an F&P Icon and I liked it just fine until it stopped powering up after 4 years of use. It was still working well when it would power up. But, each time I would unplug it to travel, it took longer and longer to power on. Reading posts in this forum it seems most of the F&P Icons die a similar death. I used the machine for 4 years so I didn't expect a free replacement. It would have been nice to have the option to repair it. I saw a recall had been issued for the problem, but the mine wasn't within the set of recalled machines. If I had to use one, I would; I just wouldn't pay much for it since I don't have confidence in how long it would last.
