Lose the idiot! {{{-I second the aspersions on your stupid sleep doc.}}}
Get thee to a real doctor to address the cough!
It is often a side effect of some meds, like lisinopril, and a few others.
Get a chest X-Ray. Rule out the other stuff.
(Like pneumonia, other infections, or cancer). ---do not fear finding out, but finding out too late
Now that I have scared you, GET ON THE PHONE! Please.

Good advice there. We have television adverts in the U.K. That say if u have a cough that has lasted more than 2 weeks then go to doctor as could be a sign of cancer. Not trying to scare monger that's what the advert says, better to be safe than sorry

I am fully aware of the value of early detection.
My breast cancer was discovered just under a year ago--in STAGE ZERO.
My plastic surgeon repeatedly remarked on my positive attitude.
It is good to kill the wolf when it first LOOKS at your house.

And then, how long does it take to get an appointment with the doctor in the UK?

Over the holidays I had a cold, sore throat, ear pressure and unrelenting cough which I thought "virus", so treat the symptoms and time will cure. After about 2 weeks I started having horseness and expiratory wheezing and at that time called my doctor who started me on antibiotics and cough medicine for bronchitis. I wouldn't have slept at all without my machine. The humidity made the secretions looser and easier to cough up which probability prevented pneumonia.
