Dishwasher-safe reservoir for Airsense 10 - any rules?
I just dropped $40 on one of these because I'm really bad about hand-washing my tank; it's just out of my mind until bedtime every night. It came with zero instructions. Anyone have best practices for them? I'd like to start washing the thing at least once a week. I'm assuming top rack, and take out the flimsy plastic piece inside...any other tips or experiences?

Yes, return the device and rinse by hand; or if you insist on cleaning in the dishwasher, just use top rack, you do not need this worthless device. hard plastic will not melt on the top rack.Black Shampoo wrote:I just dropped $40 on one of these because I'm really bad about hand-washing my tank; it's just out of my mind until bedtime every night. Before you use your dishwasher, you might want to take a look at your filters and see what the water you are going to spray on your reservoir passes through on the way to the pump back to the sprayers; might make you sick looking at it, one thing to eat off a plate but I sure would not want to breathe the residue.

If you constantly use distilled water you rarely need to clean the tub.

it's not a "worthless device" it's simply a slightly tougher humidifier tank.flightco wrote:Yes, return the device and rinse by hand; or if you insist on cleaning in the dishwasher, just use top rack, you do not need this worthless device. hard plastic will not melt on the top rack.Black Shampoo wrote:I just dropped $40 on one of these because I'm really bad about hand-washing my tank; it's just out of my mind until bedtime every night. Strange things happen . . .
--or maybe not so strange at all.
Nobody is one-dimensional.
Except classic 'toons.
And Betsy McCall.
(Well, technically two dimensional, but you get the drift.)

I agree that if you use distilled water, you never need to worry about cleaning your tank and it just stays clean. The gunk that you are cleaning now is the minerals from your water that is left behind when the water evaporates. Only distilled water does not contain these minerals. The minerals are perfectly healthy to drink and give the water most of its taste but will be left behind in your humidifier tank.
Make sure you get DISTILLED water and not "spring", "purified" or any other variation. It's sold cheaply at the supermarket and walmart - about a dollar for a gallon jug. For me, on auto settings, a gallon lasts 2-3 weeks. For some, it lasts much longer.
I never clean my tank since switching to distilled water and it's still perfectly clean. It seems worth the trouble to me.
