Medicare and frequency of mask replacements

Post by DeeCPAP » Tue Jan 26, 2016 5:12 pm

There's a discrepancy between my current and the possible future DME. I was told my current supplier emailed me this:
mask once every 3 months
headgear once every 6 months

HOWEVER another DME write this:
no you get a replacement oral cushion (Amera view) for every 30 days
you get a new mask every 90 days

What's is it REALLY?

TY

Medicare allows a new mask every three months, and a new cushion interface every month. You are allowed a new head gear every six months in addition to the new mask. It allows a new hose every three months and new humidifier water chamber every six months. These are the allowable amounts, but do not have to take them if you don't need them. This is the web site that has the replacement schedule http://oig.hhs.gov/oei/reports/oei-07-12-00250.pdf.
