RESMED HUMIDIFIER KEEPS BREAKING

Post by DeeCPAP » Mon Jan 11, 2016 2:37 pm

I got the machine S9 in 2012 and only moved it twice to take it to my doctor's office when he wanted to check the SD card.

The second year the humidier broke (would not warm up). It was replaced by my DME. A year later it broke again and again it was replaced. The third time when it broke the DME said my equipment warranty (for the machine AND the humidifier) was just about to run out and they replaced it again. It's now almost 6 months later and it broke again, same problem. The warranty ran out on the machine and the humidifier has the warranty (because it had recently been replaced).

My DME said they'll replace the humidifier AGAIN. They will check the machine. If they can't find the problem, they will send it back to RESMED and I will be charged. My hunch is that if a humidifier frequently breaks (the metal plate stays cold) the problem may not be the humidifier itself but the gear that runs the machine, chips, or whatever.

Make sense to anyone? Between this and the mask problems (and being unable to get a sound sleep), it's hell. Someone told me it's a problem with the design of the S9 which is why they changed the S10 machines. Suggestions welcome!!!

Have you considered picking up an inexpensive backup machine?

They will give me a loaner. The point is that something OTHER than the humidifiers are the problem IMO. After 18 months I'll qualify for a new machine but I think the problems with the humidifier will continue because they're not getting to the root of it. Maybe someone reading this has had (and resolved) this kind of problem with a ResMed machine?

P.S. I donated my old machine to my former doctor. I wished he had told me to keep it as a backup. That machine never broke but the newer models do because they're more complex -- "smart".

You have made at least 20 posts over the past 3 days about your humidifier...If it's broke...or if your machine is broke we can't fix it. You have gotten many suggestions as to what to do...As Nike says...JUST DO IT.

Thank you for the information. I haven't been sleeping because of the CPAP problems so my memory is fried and sometimes I seriously wonder if it's Alzheimers, for real. As for the two messages that follow this one, they were meant to be hurtful and had no redeeming no redeeming content. What do you get out of being mean to someone you don't know who's seeking answers to a very serious problem. I don't want to know your answer, but YOU should. Does being nasty make you feel better? There are millions like you, mostly mean children who don't know any better and would have been better off had they learned how to play nicely with others in their sandboxes.

I do thank you for those links though. Very helpful.
