Long time, no see. Upgraded and unsure.
Hey, gang. It's been about 3 or so years since I was last here and I've been busy. Sleeping and completing a Master's degree in Counseling. Changed my career and now I'm a Substance Abuse Counselor working on my license.
Anyway...
I just got the AirSense 10 yesterday and the P10 Nasal Pillows. I'm not sure I'm happy with it. The P10 is an awesome interface. I'm really impressed with it. Lighter, no separate headgear and with my mustache and beard, not a hitch.
The machine, though. Needs some work. Being a former engineer, design is really important to me. The humidifier tub? Hate it. I liked my H5i (S9 series) in that I could pour my distilled water into it without taking the tub out of the heating unit. No, I don't believe in following instructions - the S9 is 5.5 years old now and working great still. New insurance and the smartphone on my hip? Time to step up into the technology.
I had the ResScan 3.1 with my S9 and, while I didn't use it often, I had the option to actually look at the data. MyAir doesn't show me everything I want to see on my new AirSense. I have the Autoset and I would love to see how much pressure I'm actually using. My range is 10-15cm.
What baffles me, too, is that, normally (my S9 has been at 14cm for about 2 years) I have fallen asleep before a single song has been played on my music player. 3-4 minutes. This rate of falling asleep is corroborated by my FitBit Flex and any sleep app I've used on my phone or tablet. Last night, it took me over an hour and, when I checked, my pressure was only at about 10.5-11cm. I felt like I was working to pull air into my lungs compared to the old 14cm that came at me like a dog out the car window at 40MPH.
So, what I'd like to do is this. (and my DME told me I can turn off the cell signal if I want to) I want to see more information. Is there better software available that I can use? Even if I need to pop out the SD card every few weeks or so? I want to see a history. I want to see the actual pressure pushed by the machine. I want to know if I'm sucking badly. I want to explore all the bells and whistles like I'm not a freaking idiot...
Thank you in advance.

There is also ResScan...you can easily update your old version so it will work with the new machine and taking the SD card out briefly won't hurt a thing or impact the wi fi stuff that is involved with the MyAir website thing.
No need to turn anything off unless you just want to.
For information on SleepyHead (which will also work) or obtaining the latest ResScan version you can go here

Thanks, Pugsy. It's a new laptop as well (last year), and no Rescan yet on it. I d/led sleepyhead and like it. I'd love some opinions on the graphics once I figure out how to upload them. I'll post in a new thread (keeping subjects separate).

What you see on the graphics on SH pretty much have the same meaning as those same data points when using ResScan but they are just presented visually differently. There are a few graphs that ResScan doesn't offer with your particular machine but the machine collects the data so SleepyHead will show you those graphs where ResScan doesn't...they aren't critical graphs though which is probably why ResScan doesn't show them until you are using one of those high dollar machines where the additional lung function data might be more useful.
I have a little tutorial thread in the top of the Announcements section of the main forum page.
You might take a look there to see if some of your questions are already covered.
Then if something needs further clarification just ask and we will be happy to explain further.

Thanks, Pugsy. I'll check out the tutorial as well. Having less physical pressure last night was more than unnerving. Of the 8:20 of sleep that was recorded, only 7:20 was productive. It took me almost an hour to actually fall asleep. Happy New Year.

it sounds like you need to raise your minimum pressure. you have been used to using 14 cm H20. just bump up your minimum pressure and it should be more comfortable and easier to fall asleep.

That's my thought as well. Is there any danger to having more pressure than what the machine sets to? Other than my chest burning in the morning?OKCSleepDoc wrote:it sounds like you need to raise your minimum pressure. you have been used to using 14 cm H20. just bump up your minimum pressure and it should be more comfortable and easier to fall asleep.
