Activa Nasal Mask with VPAP S9

Post by ephraimh » Mon Dec 28, 2015 12:37 am

I use an Activa Nasal mask and it has become very difficult to put on and take of because of my worsening CMT http://www.cmtausa.org/understanding-cmt/what-is-cmt/

I cannot manipulate the top clips on the top straps so I just pull the mask over my head and cinch up the chinstraps. The Velcro is dying and it's becoming very hard to keep the mask on.

Can anyone suggest a mask, preferably nasal, that's easier to get on and off? My hand and finger dexterity and strength are, for all practical purposes, non-existent.

Thanks

You could look at a the very large variety of almost every type of mask on Cpap.com that shows different angles, all the parts including headgear, reviews, etc. etc. of different masks. If you have questions about specific ones, you can call and ask about those, or ask here from others who are familiar with them. Not trying to put you off getting help here, but you're probably the best judge of what will work for you.

If it's nighttime getups, you could just disconnect the hose? That would cut down on the number of times you disconnect the velcro.

I know you said nasal but take a look at the P10 pillow mask. You just pull the headgear over your head. Very easy on and off.

Your local Muscular Dystrophy association may know of sources for accessible fasteners
to replace the ones on the mask you use.

I've often thought that I would superglue a little stick perpendicular to the "catch" on my Activa, so I could just kind of pull it back, instead of having to almost "brush" my thumb along it. Would that work for you?
