Sleephead EVENTS graph and its meaning

What does it mean having either more or less event marks? Is CPAP supposed to reduce events or merely respond to them?

One day there was only one event recorded; the next there were about thirty. What am I to make of this?

cpap should keep you from having events.. but it may also respond to events if you have that type of machine.

The cpap pressure should be holding your airway open so you don't have events.

Have you looked at any other factors on SH? Like leaks, pressure changes, flow rates etc? Your answers should be in there somewhere.

Very few people on CPAP are completely free of respiratory events (OA, CA, H, flow limitations, RERA, snores, etc). The type of events and frequency affect the response you need to make to deal with it or not. So, you're saying that in and of itself it has no meaning except in relation to other charts, other data? Just shows what type of event and when it occurred.

Not so much a case of 'no meaning' as one of its being taken in isolation, with no other data to help point a direction, is not much use.

Event flags you see on the Events graph are just the events that slipped past the defenses and the machine wasn't able to prevent them from happening. We have no way to know what or how many were actually prevented because there are no flags for those.

So if you see those flags...it means so and so wasn't prevented from happening at that time for whatever reason might have caused it to slip past the defenses.

That's all it "means"...but how important it is that you are seeing them...that's where you have to take the whole picture into account.

In my experience it depends a lot on if I am sleeping on my back or side. My APAP machine responds after an event by increasing the pressure. If I am sleeping on my back, it seems like I can have several events before the pressure increases enough to prevent further events. If I am sleeping on my side, I have very few events. My pressure stays lower.

This is a little misleading. All people have respiratory events when they sleep. The vast majority of people on CPAP have fewer than 5 events per hour, putting them into the normal category.

Okay, I get it. Without knowing that an event occurred, we are pretty much in the dark, What we do with that info is up to us.
