Posting attachments

Post by blownaway » Fri Dec 04, 2015 5:32 am

Probably seen this one 100 times but I have been searching for over an hour trying to find out how to include an attachment in a post. Most forums include a menu for doing that but here there is nothing and I can find no instructions. The search function here is, shall we say, limited.

You can download stuff to Imgur.com, size it appropriately and then post a link to it in this thread. There are more instructions re this in the first Announcement on main page.

Thanks Julie. Nice black cat. I have one, too, only he's not nice: he bites me.

Oh, Pugsy's Pointers? I've read thru half of those many pages and have yet to find anything. There's stuff about taking screen shots and all, but so far nothing on attachments. The lack of attachments or facility here in this forum suggests they're not wanted or not easy. Apparently one has to know html. codign and use the img. or url. code.

I don't believe attachment functionality has been enabled on this board. If you look to the right of the post composition window, you will see the code that is on: img, url, There is also a link to the BBcode used by this forum viewtopic/p1042592/faq.php?mode=bbcode. The code for attachments would be [attachment=][/attachment]
In searching this site, perhaps the best way is to use Google site specific like this https://www.google.com/search?as_q=post ... aptalk.com

Sorry, it's early for non-techies and I should have made the distinction between attachmts and software etc... Sorry about your cat! I love your Archie avatar!

As far as I know no one has attachment permission.
That's why we do the screen shots.
It's something that simply isn't available on this forum.

By allowing attachments to be posted, it would allow malware a door in. So the door is closed, I too prefur .pdf files, but they are best left to sores you trust. Jim

Then how are people posting their charts. Are those not attachments or are you making distinction between screenshots and attachments? One and the same to me.

Following a post, a responder asked me to post my chart. I read somewhere how to post charts, I just can't find it again.

This is what you are looking for:
https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepy ... screenshot
https://sleep.tnet.com/reference/tips/imgur
https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead/shorganize

TNET is maintained by one of our members Krevlin on a volunteer basis. He has provided a much needed resource. What happened is that Imgur changed on us. You now have to have a free account to access the BB Code menu and large thumbnail.
The large thumbnail that we liked now has to be accessed this way:

You have to sign in and then click on your ID in the upper right corner. It will then give you options and you click on images. This will take you to your images. Then you click on the image you want and it will open up the image with the full menu. At the bottom of this menu will be the Linked BB Code and the sizes. You choose the Large Thumbnail then copy the BB Code to your post.

The difference is that in order to get this menu you now have to open a free account and sign in when before it was on the first page.
