airfit mask causing dry eye

Post by mjs499 » Wed Dec 02, 2015 11:32 am

Hello-- has anyone had problem with the airfit pulling down lower eyelid?

I am trying to figure out dry eye on one side only-- almost has to be the mask I think???
what I am thinking is side piece that hold nasal pillow sort of pulls down left cheek whick pulls eyelid down??
I have been using the airfit for approx 6 months so dont know why happening now- but did notice it has stretched

going to go back to old mask for week or so [ old time favorite twilight np which is now DCed] to see if cures
then I will try airfit again- have new stretchy part around back head and also did wash old one which shrank it

anyone else experience this?

Hmm... the micropores on the Airfit actually work well to prevent dry eye. It could be your bed positioning at night is causing a bounce back from the exhalation pores against the sheets. While it is possible to have dry eye in one eye, you might also consider getting you eye looked at to make sure there isn't something else masking itself as dry eye. My sister went months explaining away an eye problem; we finally ragged on her enough to go to the eye doctor, where she found out that she had an eye infection so serious that she was in danger of losing the vision. Given that I've had devastating vision issues, it's my new pedestal.

I don't know if you are ready to pull out the big guns yet, but I like the eye shields linked below and use them every night. They are soft, fit tight to the eye sockets and keep in lots of moisture, plus all the while keeping out of the eyes any escaping CPAP therapy air (a deal breaker for me). I couldn't sleep without them. And, no, I don't have any financial interest in the company.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

thanks for replies I did check with eye doc- he is who suggested cpap strap

goggles look interesting- I have tried regular cloth sleep mask but that didnt help

i will use old mask for few days and see if eye improves
I do like the airfit-- it is so quiet and comfortable
