I'm just always curious what current wisdom is though; some of those threads are from 2005 and you never know when redesigns are done and suchforth.
It's not like I can't just try them all -- I can, and it's not a big deal...I just want to avoid wasting HSA account funds needlessly.
Well, all my opinions were probably written in 2005, too, but it doesn't necessarily negate their legitimacy. Unless something has been redesigned or some really different masks have joined the ranks, such as the Hybrid, and possibly put the CL2 (a redesign) in that grouping, the opinions are probably timeless. It's what people were feeling when they tried out that mask.
I do have to admit, I was totally against the Breeze my first attempt at using it. Almost a year or so later, I tried it again and found it far better than round one. But overall, I think you can pretty much rely on opinions from 2005. Hey, it's not THAT long ago .

No no, I didn't mean it to come out that way. Damn text-only medium not conveying feeling properly.
I just want massive amounts of info I guess, hehe. I *can* buy all 4, I just don't *want* to.

No! I didn't take it offensively, so I hope you didn't think that. I hate the Internet, email, IM's, and the like, for that reason, too. I understand totally how you feel and what you're doing. I just wanted to make sure you don't think 2005 opinions won't hold up anymore, although I'm sure there are some, like my initial opinion of the Breeze, that actually don't.

Hey, Sleepless in LI! Look, I'm posting again! (But not through AOL, exactly.)
JCraig, I believe that your thirst for knowledge will only help you in your quest for the 'perfect' mask. If only I had sought more informatiion here, I might still have the Mirage Swift. There are fixes for almost all of the masks and interfaces and their headgear.
You may want to search the forum for any fixes that might have been developed by our loyal Forum Folk, but to help you out:

I hope that Rested Gal will not object to having some of her compilations posted by me.
These Comfort Curve Links were collected and posted by Rested Gal:

Here is a link to all KINDS of Swift fixes, compiled by Rested Gal:

(Thanks again, Rested Gal Laura for sharing how to post links in HTML!)

Hi,
I use a Breeze and find it the answer as most lower headgear straps aggravate a spinal problem in my neck and cause extreme vertigo attacks resulting in bad falls. The Breeze rests above that area. I do use a rectangular piece of spongy, foamy material I got in a package of something one time. Putting it between my head and the headgear plate makes it iot fit better and be more stable and comfortable. I also use the panty hose trick and a forehead piece removed from a Comfort Gel mask and I can spin all night long in any position and the nasal pillows never twitch at all. By the way, i use the large pillows and I am 5'3" and have a small face.
This forum has been my salvation in trying to find a workable system. I am amazed at how this treatment has turned my life around. 6 months ago I couldn't walk my greyhound and this week we have been jogging a bit.

JCraig, I like the Breeze a lot, minimal contact, light weight, easy to adjust. I side sleep maybe 90% of the night or more, rarely have a leak that registers on the machine (only two nights out of the last three months. I use the large pillows. I sleep on a memory foam pillow. One caution, though....if you sleep on your back, the Breeze has a rather hard pad at the back of your skull. Its not hard to get used to, but if you use a firm pillow, you will feel it. A softer pillow may help with this, but back sleeping increases apneas and hypopneas in most people, so side sleeping is gennerally better.

About the differences between the Breeze pillows and CL2 nasal pillows, the Breeze pillows are firmer and insert into the nares a bit more, and retain shape better than the CL2 . Now the rest of the story.
I loved and used the Breeze for 6 /8 months until I noticed the pad on the top of my head was wearing a BALD spot right where I didn't need one, so I bought a CL2. Had a bit of a leak problem at first and decided to make some changes.
First, I cut the top off the mask, retaining the part that holds the tube and nasal pillows in place. removed the lower strap that used to hook onto the bottom of the mask, (the part I kept) and sewed them back on to the remaining head band to form an adjustable strap going over the top to hold the lower strap in place. I am a confirmed side sleeper and had a few leak problems at first with the pillows collapsing in on them selves and leaking enough to wake me, so after several adjustment to the metal strips on the pillow assembly have found a good fit with out additional fish lines or other anchoring devices. I also loosened the head bank a bit so the whole thing moves a bit as I move.
I was tempted to try the Hybrid but hate having straps running all over and under my ears that seem to be necessary to hold a full face mask in place. The rear pad on the breeze was a pain at times as well.
I used to be uncertain, but now I'm not sure!!!!!!!

Thank you RG. Coming from you, the master list compiler, that is a true compliment. After all, it was your compiling that inspired me as the lists helped me so much.
I hope that maybe you were saved the trouble of making a couple of postings! You deserve it.
