SoClean2

Post by Norbert N » Mon Nov 16, 2015 12:01 pm

Does anyone have experience with SoClean2 machines? I have a severe cold and I sneeze and cough into the full face mask. I am not sure that I can sanitize my mask by simply washing it. Further if the SoClean unit works as advertised it might be worth investing in one.

When you get over a illness, it's because the body immune system over came it. Unless u you are planning to make everyone you meet put on and handle everything you have touched. The problem has been solved for you by your own body.

Remember you have spread the germs all over the house. Phone, door knobs, chairs, car ect, basically everything. Maybe a bubble room would be better. Jim

I have one, I bought it almost a year ago and I couldn't tolerate the smell and the orange masks. I read a thread on Amazon that scared me that it is harsh on silicone items including the ones that are used inside some machines. I have Mirage FX for her masks and they feel like they are made entirely of silicone and after 1 or 2 uses my mask turned orange and the smell was so bad I really couldn't tolerate it. I even tried using the sleep oils to mask the smell but it didn't work and made it hard for me to sleep. I am an admitted wimp, I am afraid this machine might ruin the Cpap machine (or my lungs with the ozone, you can smell it in the room while you clean) I use and I love my masks so I am not changing. I never really felt my machine was germy or dirty, I use distilled water and dump daily, I wash my hoses once a week and I have a few that I rotate so there is always a clean one to grab and my masks a few times a week and I use a mild hypoallergenic soap and hot water. I have have been using Cpap for 4 years and have terrible allergies with sinus issues but it has nothing to do with Cpap and it wasn't any better the few months I used SoClean and is probably a bit better since Cpap because my air gets filtered and its dust and mold that kills my sinuses. There are many people who love it but this thread made me put it in the closet and go back to hand washing. This is the thread http://smile.amazon.com/review/R1280RKL ... &store=hpc. I felt the company was not very responsive to the problems some people were having so I wasn't about to give them more of my money but some other people love it. I think you should do the research first and at least make an informed decision. (sorry I use the smile place to donate to a charity but it still should show up)

cpap.com sells Control III cpap cleaner. It is supposed to kill those nasty germs on your mask.
http://www.controlthree.com

The have a small travel size I was wanting to order to give it a try. Definitely cheaper.

A product created for those with serious immune-deficiencies.
Also a cash cow for those willing to exploit germophobes with disposable income.

You can sanitize your mask with soap and water. This machine is a sanitizer not a sterilizer or a cleaner (not sure how they can get away with calling it a cleaner, it has no ability to clean, even if it did it recirculates so the stuff that was cleaned is in there someplace. Washing with soap and water is sanitizing, bugs cannot stay on plastic and silicone when being scrubbed away with soap and water. Once you have either killed, removed or rendered ineffective, you have sanitized.

The Soclean smells god awful bad, I tried one and thought I would throw up. There should be nothing in your machine or hose, just clean your mask and clean your hose if you want to.

Over the years, I cannot remember anything good being said of it.... but I do remember a lot of bad.

If someone wants to get a SoClean machine, please be informed that I've got an aluminum foil hat I can sell you cheap. Ya know, to keep the aliens from invading your brain.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I looked at this briefly and decided I didn't want to spend $300+ to replace a task that takes me a couple of minutes daily, and 15 minutes on a Saturday. Keep in mind that cleaning is inspecting, and I am pretty sure that the SoClean doesn't do any inspecting.

What I find kinda funny is that the much vaunted, Second Wind sells these SoClean snake oil dispensers. Not a great endorsement for their ethics IMO.

I, too am baffled.
Maybe just because nobody is perfect.
Or a warehouse of unsold BS dispensers was on sale at a price that could not be reFUSED.

Hey I love my so-clean. As far as I know, I'm not a fool, a chump or a stooge--but if I were, I wouldn't , if you follow my drift. So who knows?

Any of you guys who hate this thing ever used one?

All I know is, there's a sweet freshness to my mask and hose every night. Maybe others here are fine with a stale smell and the high risk of tuberculosis, pox and black plague that comes with not using this device!

A sweet freshness? Well, I knew a guy in college who thought farts smelled sweet too so I guess it is possible, and yes I have used one.

TB, pox and plague, what are you washing it in a south of the border sewer? Actually, you are just having fun, right?
