sleepweaver

Post by erbowman » Sun Nov 08, 2015 12:15 pm

Anyone had any experience with sleepweaver nasal mask? Either the full face mask or nasal one. Currently I am using airfit 10. It's OK except with I turn over on side. I get leaks them the hissing wakes me up. I was thinking about these soft mask. I am also considering going to nasal mask so I can still drink something if I get thirsty during the night. Any insight would be appreciated

If you go to https://www.cpap.com. you can read the reviews of different masks.
You may want to also look at the Swift FX Nano, the entire mask is made of soft silicone. So it has a lot of give, if that's the right word, when laying on my side. There are no hard plastic parts that hurt or cause it to move and leak.

As you can see in my equipment profile, I use a Sleepweaver Elan Mask. It has been the only one I have been able to tolerate.

I have not had problems with leaks as I have found the mask very easy to adjust. But just you know, alot of people have had difficulties with them.

Best of luck.

I have a Sleepweaver Advance, and I have a lot of trouble with leaks. I don't know if the Elan would have the same issue, since the headgear is different, but on the Advance, I always have air blowing in my eyes. I've fiddled and fiddled with the thing and just can't get it to work for me.

But again, I haven't tried the newer models. I've been considering giving the Elan a shot to see if it works better, since the cloth IS a lot more comfortable. If I could get the Advance to seal, I would use it all the time.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant people have difficulties with leaks.

Yeah, if you wanted to purchase the mask through cpap.com, you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot since there free return policy on the mask.

You might also try liners on your F10 to see if they will help. They helped me when I was using the N10. They make the mask more comfortable and help to protect the mask from facial oils. The two I tried were Remzzz first and then Padacheek which I liked better.

I am new to CPAP and ordered a Sleepweaver ANEW FFM for my first mask. This is probably the worst choice I could have made. It was a small and I was shocked at how big the headgear is. To make matters worse, this mask is made for someone with a strong chin and I have a small, narrow, receded chin. I could not wear it at all because it would not form a seal under my chin. I tried several ways of fitting it. The video that came with the mask was of no use.

Also I noticed that, just holding the mask over my face, these cloth masks are not as comfortable as I thought they would be. They need to fit very tight to prevent leaks. I really think that silicone is more comfortable than cloth. Also, they seem to be very hot on the face. I wish I had read the reviews of this mask before I ordered it, which were not very positive. About a third of reviewers reported problems with leaks.

I would have been happy to send you this mask, but I gave it away last week to someone who is not getting his CPAP therapy because his nasal mask is giving him nose marks and needs to try a FFM. His insurance will not let him get another mask for at least 3 months.

I wore the Elan for several months until my eyes could not bear the tiny breeze that could not be stopped.
Tightening it, like PEF did, is the opposite strategy to achieve fit. The secret is balance, an art that evades many.
Cloth masks require you to "learn the dance"; well worth the effort, but not for those with little patience.

Did you mean the AirFit F10 (full face)? I haven't used that but did try the N10 (nasal) as well as the Wisp and the Nano. The Nano was the only one of those I could use because the others hit just a little too high on my nose.

I was not able to get the cloth mask to fit at all without leaks (I am a problem for fitting ) I also had trouble with the Remzzz liners and I imagine padacheek would probably be better as they fit on the mask itself (again, I'm unique!)

I prefer the new DreamWear nasal mask that sits under the nose instead of over it but for a traditional nasal mask, I did like the Nano.

I have both the Advance and the Elan as backup masks. I don't get significant leaking, but the leaking I DO get is loud and it is usually blowing at my eyes. At another's suggestion, I changed my white noise generator to Ocean Waves and that is no longer a problem. Haven't exactly solved the blowing in my eyes problem, but I never get significant leaks, so decided to just live with it. There aren't any alternatives that are more comfortable for me.

I never used the FFM, but these cloth masks do not have to be on tight. In fact, tightness tends to make them work worse. I DO think that while they fit many faces well, the small leaks can be annoying.

When I used the sleepweaver I wore a cloth sleep mask. It kept the air out of my eyes. These masks need to be worn loose to seal. Most masks you tighten these you loosen. Just remember to wash your face right before bedtime.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to try some kind of nasal mask, probably this one. I miss being able to sleep on my side. I am hoping this might fix my problem. Idk but at least it's a 30 day trial. I am considering a couple others too

I have been using the Sleepweaver advance for almost two years. no large leaks ever. I to wear it loose and slip small rectangles of thick polar fleece under each cheek strap. That seems to work as a buffering mini self adjuster and I have never registered a large leak. Once the air is flowing I lift the tab at the top and let it drop back. If I still feel and air I slightly pull on the mask edges below the tab. That allows the air under the inner seal and no leaks. Before I learned to do this I sometimes got a buzz at that area. I started with a Wisp and could not stand the feel of plastic it made me sweaty and left sore red marks all around my nose to say nothing of deep marks on my cheeks.

Well I changed my mind I read many reviews and decided to play a little safer and went with dream wear. It got great reviews. I still like the idea of the SleepWeaver but I also liked how the dw connected. Idk it may not work but I opened so. I don't have a problem with claustrophobia and can keep mask on all night. I just hate it when it leaks and it wakes me up. Thanks for all the replies. I will post how it works for me
