Yay! Congrats on starting therapy. One suggestion. Try not to turn over, away from the machine, without knowing where the tube is - I nearly pulled my machine off the nightstand the first couple of nights.

Did you get the AirSense 10 CPAP? Because if you did you need to take it back and get the Autoset or even better the Autoset for her which has even more options. Insurance pays the same amount no matter what and if the gave you the CPAP only model you have a brick and you won't be able to get any data other than number of hours used.

shadow, the AirSense 10 CPAP model is not a full data model. If you want to follow your therapy and be able to troubleshoot effectively, you need the AirSense 10 Elite model or the Autoset (or "Autoset For Her") model. Both the "CPAP" and "Elite" models are fixed-pressure CPAP machines, but only the Elite has full treatment data.

The AS 10 CPAP does have AHI and leak data but only the numbers, no graphs available, and more importantly (if I recall correctly) no AHI event category breakdown. So you wouldn't know if your AHI is due to obstructive or central ("clear airway") events, and thus you'd have no idea -- and neither would your doctor -- whether or how to adjust your pressure(s) if they needed adjustment. And as we all know, adjustments in the early phases of treatment are often needed.

Ok that is good then. Using it in the CPAP mode is fine you just want to be able to have the data and maybe one day you may need the APAP mode. If not then you still have the full data machine. I misunderstood when you just said CPAP I assumed you meant just the CPAP model. And I know what happens when one assumes lol.

According to your sleep study, the doctor recommended pressure 6-8. The DME should have set the machine that way. Are you sure it is not in APAP mode? Do you know how to make changes if necessary?

Instructions are in the "provider" manual, but we can get it, for FREE.
Others have the link you need.

For the time being, I'd recommend leaving it as it was set to determine how those (prescribed) settings work for you.
Monitor with software (like Sleepyhead) and give it a few weeks before experimenting with pressure changes.

I agree with what is said here. Straight CPAP may be all you ever need. You may never need the APAP mode. But you won't know if you don't try the straight pressure and check as was said.
