Need mask that doesn't go near eyes

Hi All-
I've been doing CPAP for about 15 years now, and went from full nose to pillows about 5 years ago with no issues. Early next year, I'm having surgery on both eyes that will require me to wear a mask for about a month where the straps or mask itself doesn't go anywhere near my eyes. Does such a creature exist? Any suggestions welcome.

There is a mouth only mask sold by F&P - you can find it on CPAP.COM. But part of it does have to go inside of you mouth. Maybe you could manage that for a short time?

The Dreamwear does not go anywhere near your eyes. The hose is routed to the top of the headband and the straps are located at the back of your head. I think you would be happy with this mask. The mask is pictured in my profile. Good luck!

So which nasal pillow mask are you currently using that has something too close to the eyes?
Would hate to tell you maybe so and so mask and that's the one you use.

Check out the options and see if any of them would suit your needs.

The Respironics Fitlife total face mask avoids contact anywhere near the eyes and also
equalizes pressure between the eyes and nose, in case that is a concern.
Any leakage would be at the edges of the face, reducing drying airflow near the eyes.
This mask might be useful after surgeries elsewhere on the face.

When I last had eye surgery I used my tap-pap mask... no straps, nothing. Nose pillows are attached to a mouthpiece, and I routed the hose up over my head to my hose holder. VERY comfortable and nothing near the eyes whatsoever.

I love the Mirage FX. Comfortable, no leaks, not near the eyes, doesn't pull on cheeks, etc. The DreamWare is too noisy if the airflow is high, applies upper dental pressure, and it tends to pull on the malar/cheek areas.

The Mirage is closer to the eyes than the DreamWear, but should still not be close to any surgical incisions.

Yes! That is a good mask. Fitting the mouthpiece may take a few tries.
You want to redo it if it is too tight.

Hmmm, I don't seem to have any of the issues that you are expressing/experiencing with the Dreamwear, which again is a testament to the fact that the masks are so personal to everyone. As I have observed in another post if one is feeling any type of "pressure" or "pulling" from the Dreamwear it is more likely than not that one has the straps pulled too tight because they believe that they are experiencing air leak (and very well might be).

As far as the noise issue that also seems to be a personal preference issue. I tried five different masks during the second night of my sleep study. They all made noise in one fashion or another with some more significant than others. I wouldn't rate the Dreamwear anywhere even close to the top of the category for noise issues or I certainly would not have chosen it.

Personally, I prefer the minimalistic design of the Dreamwear. I look at the design of some of these masks and immediately think "BDSM"..lol. I don't want to go scuba diving...I just want to go to sleep. Just my thoughts and observations...

Thanks. The Dreamware noise was very prominent and annoying as previously posted, but it's dependent upon tidal volume and airflow. I have pictures of two people wearing the Dreamware and it's clear that there is a tugging superiorly, and that there is pressure on the cheeks. The Mirage has a small amount of white noise, but no differential between inspiration and expiration, whereas the Dreamware was loud during inspiration. The Mirage had no pulling/tugging.

Side note...I notice no noise at all with the DreamWear mask...nothing during inhale or exhale.
Only noise I ever get with it is when the venting bounces off the bed linens. Last night was night number 14 with it.

We all tend to recommend the mask that we use because to us it's the "best" and for us it probably is.
Doesn't mean it is going to be the "best" for someone else though.
Sounds we do or do not hear may not be the same for someone else. It's the nature of masks.
One man's treasure is another man's trash...very true when it comes to cpap masks.

For OP here who wants or needs something that is not close to the eyes...We don't know his idea of "close to the eyes" without knowing what mask he is using now and really what type of surgery is involved.

To get everything about as far away from the eyes as possible...the Tap Pap nasal pillow. No headgear at all and nothing near the eyes.

Just a note, images or video of people wearing cpap masks may or may not be accurate,
as photographers often prefer models over real patients.
"Privacy", they say, but laziness may be the real reason. Not to say we are all unattractive,
but many erroneously think we are, and do not look hard enough for REAL "pappers".

I don't know what surgery your having, but I had cataract surgery done on both eyes (month apart). I use a a Quattro FX and had no problems with the mask. They cover the eye with a plastic shield for the first week and my mask was not a problem.
