M series Questions

I currently have a REMstar auto and am planning to purchase a M series Auto for travel/backup
1. Does the DC cord for the old unit fit the new one?
2. Do I need to upgrade the software (I'll have to check my other computer to see which version I have - What version do I need?)
3. Can I upgrade the software if required - I had a link but it now requires a password - Is there a "backdoor"?

The old DC cord works with MPAP.
