Absolutely see a doctor about the shortness of breath issue.

As to the nosebleed/surgery, have you tried high humidity and lower pressure?

I've had my CPAP less than a month and have discovered I can't sleep without it when I went to my allergy clinic after work. It's generally about an hour to wait between the time I arrive and my appointment time, but it makes no sense to drive home and then turn right around. My usual habit was to nap in my car in the parking lot (I work nights). But post-CPAP, I found that I'd drop off, then almost immediately wake up feeling like I couldn't breathe!

As far as ideas for sleeping without it, the ones suggested here are good. Just get back onto your machine as soon as you are able, and PLEASE see a doctor about the shortness of breath! You may need home oxygen.

DO others feel this way?
Why on earth would you NOT use it?

By "when I don't use" I'm pretty sure he's referring to during the day when he's not hooked up to the machine.
Yeah, that (now) makes sense. I obviously took the statement out of context.

WTF... You have been on CPAP, it has worked, and now after surgery, you have problems? Get back to your Dr./Surgeon and DEMAND help. These leeches in med. dont' really care about anything other than money, make them work FOR you. I am lucky to have a good Dr. who will listen to what I desire and reccomend accordingy. While I am new to a OSA condition, I have had to deal with the med system with my parents before they passed. Be prepared for a real hassle getting the help you need.
