Allergy and night sweats

I`ve had an allergy which makes me sneeze and sniff and its been difficult to put on my mask for more than a few hours a night in the past month. I`ve also had bad night sweats. Any ideas what the interactions are? Can lack of mask use and bad sleep cause night sweats? Is sleeping on my stanch the best way to avoid OSA in the case a mask cannot be used due to sneezing and nose stuffiness? Thanks for any views

Yes some people have reported that their night sweats disappeared when they started cpap therapy.

Try ding a nasal rinse before bed to try to prevent the sneezing. Not wearing your cpap mask during the night is counter productive - it provides 8 hours of filtered air which is very beneficial to preventing your allergies.

Night sweats are a classic symptom of untreated OSA, so if you're on a machine and still have them, I'd either look into what's not working with your therapy (download sleepyhead software free), maybe your pressure needs tweaking, or else talk to your doctor. But as far as I know, they're not related to allergies - whole nother conversation.

Some people get some relief sleeping on their stomach or side, or in a recliner.

Do you have allergy symptoms more in the bedroom than the rest of the day. Wondering about dust, bedding dust/allergens (pillows, comforters or bedspread collecting dust), carpeting, air allergens from air conditioning our heating (are filters and ducting clean?)

night sweats are part of the OSA. I have had them a long time and just recently was diagnosed with OSA. The MD said the sweating is from your body fighting to breath.

No wonder we wake up exhausted.

I would suggest nasal rinses every morning plus a steroid like Flonase - again taken every am. That'll help the allergies.

Just my two cents, but I wouldn't touch a steroidal spray unless absolutely a last resort and doctor ordered. Bacterial resistance is just one on a long list of reasons to avoid it.

Nothing in that article connects steroids and bacterial resistance. There are many different steroids too and I am recommending the more advanced ones - Fluticasone based.

You're right which is why I mentioned it in addition to the article as additional info I should have been more clear. Bacterial resistance is prevalent in those who use steroidal inhalers which I experienced when I used to have asthma. But it is also found for those who frequently use steroidal nasal inhalers.
