a little help with my first night and understanding it
a little help with my first night and understanding it
well i don't think i did that great my first night. but it was better then without a mask. i didn't use that mask alot last night to many leaks i think will adjust and try tonight some more.
mouth was still really dry with the humidifer set to 5 is that because of the leaks?
am i looking at the right things? or on the right track ?
can some tell me what these mean ? or what i need to look for ?
Treatment mode: C 4.0 - 12.0 cm. H2O
Apnea/Hypopnea Index (AHI): 8.3 events/hr. (without machine over 30 hr)
Average pressure: 8.1 cm/H2O
90 percentile pressure: 11.3 cm/H2O
Obstructive Apnea Index (OAI): 1.55
average max leak 119.8lp
average 90% leak 87.9 lpm
average leak 67.8 lp
average large leaks 35 minutes
thanks for any help

You have to get the leaks stopped.... Leaks Bad--No leaks Good! Your low pressure is too low, 6 or 7 Cm would be better, but until the leaks are under control, your numbers will be high, and the pressure will too, trying to make up for the leaks, but in reality making them worse. Jim

I think sometimes the board gets so busy with posts that a post can easily get pushed down to the bottom or even to the second page before somebody who may have answered sees it.Anonymous wrote:glad at least one helped
If a question goes unanswered you can always post a bump to bring it back up to the top.
Anyway
wuelfman,
Have you made any progress?

These readings are good. Your AI and HI are quite low, which is the most important.wuelfman wrote:so here are my latest reports

My first time too
Just got up from my first night as well. I also awoke 2 or 3 times. It's hard to tell whether I got a good quality sleep. One thing I can say is that I feel very groggy right now. Should I?
No dry mouth, though. I think the humidifier worked ok. the water container was about half full in the a.m. Is that normal? Also, in the DVD, the video shows the water boiling or bubbling inside the humidifier tank. Is mine supposed to do that? Mine's a Humidaire 3i.
I do have mask marks on my face, so maybe my mask is too tight. One problem I'm having with adjusting the mask is that the tightness varies depending on how far back I tilt my neck. If I move my head forward when I'm tightening the straps, obviously when I tilt my head back, everything will get tighter. But if I adjust it with my head tilted farther back, then during sleep, if my neck tilts forward, I'll have leaks. I think I noticed that when I was in some of my half-awake states.
I felt some constant air coming out from the tube near the nose piece, but my tech said that's where the exhaled air comes out, so that's normal. Is that correct? Is it normal to feel air coming out of there even when I'm not exhaling?
I'm not sure I have any of the software that wuelfman has to get all that data. All that shows on mine is the ramping and the altitude adjustments.
Oh, yeah, one more thing I should mention, which the tech warned me of. Apparently, during the night, my esophagus doesn't close completely, and I get air in my stomach, which goes through my digestive system, and I end up feeling bloated and having to flatulate in the middle of the night. That may have been louder than any of the snoring I may have done. But just as the tech said, it's just pure air so it didn't smell. "Loud but harmless," the opposite of "silent but deadly," I guess. Anyway, has anyone else had problems with swallowing air?

Welcome aboard, Tarzan.
You will get these questions answered and more on this board.
Sounds like your mask might be just a little too tight and you may try sleeping on your side because getting air in your stomach can be very painful.
If your straps become uncomfortable, there are pads available that are very resonably priced. Just let the board know.
