New choices for Sleep Apnea?

I am seeing several new options that say they can replace a cpap machine.
Wondered if anyone had any info on any of these from doctors or dentists you trust
They are:

My Snoring Solution - chin strap

ASU Dental appliance from American Sleep Union

I also saw a nasal only no machine appliance that was a proof of concept with micro blowers but that one I had so many questions on - about pressures and how or whether you could have any humidification. It was pretty futuristic but only fit across and into your nostrils. Amazing if it works and was comfortable to wear.

It would be great to find a solution for going out camping or when traveling with back issues carrying the extra weight of the CPAP triggers pain and migraines for me.

If you go to cpap.com, I thought there was a light weight traveling cpap that might fit the bill. If you can't find it, give them a call as they are very helpful.

Other options - Skip the chinstrap and click on the link in my signature regarding a 2011 study of dental appliances in which adjustable ones were found to have a good chance in getting the apnea index to below 5 for mostly mild to moderate ranges. You would need to see a sleep medicine dentist to make one.

Every option would have to be evaluated on its own merit and particular to the individual. As was mentioned, most have been discussed on here at length. If one has mild sleep apnea, a dental device could reduce events enough to get in an acceptable range. For those with worse sleep apnea, it may reduce the number of events but it would have to be determined if the events were brought to an acceptable level. Devices come and go on the radar. Some have a big flash-bang entry into the marketplace but fizzle out when consumer results don't match the hype. The latest thing does not always turn out to be the greatest. If one feels their lifestyle makes an alternative treatment desirable, I can only suggest doing up front research and being certain it is actually achieving the desired effect. In some cases that could be an expensive proposition. I'm curious if a dental device would help me enough to use if for travel, etc. but it's way out of my budget. But I will be buying another neck collar to help when sleeping on flights. Depends on your case and your tolerance for experimentation.
