Using the Simplus

My DME decided that the Simplus would be a good choice for me because I am a side sleeper. The mask arrived yesterday in the mail but without any instructions. Can someone please either point me to info elsewhere or explain a bit for me? The company's website has info but the page came up scrambled. The mask isn't attached to the headgear yet, and I don't even know how to do that. (I've left a message at my DME, but no call back yet.)

have mine in front of me

1. the cushion has a narrow top that lines up with the long extension on the frame
and snaps in place. only fits one way
2. the headgear has a wide part with the label on it and that will go on the back of your head
3. with the label upright, so you could read it, there are two long straps that go through the top of the long extension on the frame and loop back to Velcro in place
4. again at the top of the head gear there are two more straps and these go through the small plastic clip that has two slots in it and loop over to Velcro in place
5.now you should have formed an oval with the top of the head gear that sits on the crown of your head
6. the two remaining straps that stick out to the side of the label and below it go through the two gray plastic hooks and loop over and Velcro in place
7. these hooks snap onto the frame near the bottom, snap one on, pull it over your face and snap the remaining hook in place

This mask need to float so don't over tighten it. It should sit lightly on your face, turn your machine on and slowly pull the mask away from you face just a little. The silicon cushion will inflate and seal to your face, the let go. if you get an air leak at the bridge of your nose, pull the mask down towards your chin.

Attach your hose directly to the swivel connector on the mask

I use the Simplus and like it. I like that it's not clear "sticky" silicone, that it's smooth and slides instead of sticking and causing leaks when it moves. I have a large face and have found it helpful to use a chin strap over the headgear to keep my cheeks from puffing out and causing leaks at the corners of my mouth. It also helps the mask from sliding around as much. I have had good success with it.

Well, I figured out a big part of confusion: they didn't send a frame! You can imagine how puzzled I was trying to fit just the mask onto the headgear.

I appreciate the help. Maybe LIncare will see fit to actually send me what I need.

Why is simplus good for a side sleeper? Is it because it's narrower than most FFMs? I'm a very active side sleeper and I might give this a try if it works really well for side sleeping

I'm not sure. It's what the lady at the DME suggested. I haven't been able to use it yet so I don't know. I currently have an AirFit F10 and we have a love-hate relationship.

no frame! ROFL! Now that would be a problem.

You might also investigate the Amara View as it does not touch the nose bridge at all and is smaller than the Simplus so less to bump when on your side. My Simplus is now my back up mask.
As with most masks you need to get used to how to put it on.
