HELP!

Post by ultratired » Fri Sep 18, 2015 4:12 am

i was diagnosed with sleep apnea five years ago and have used a CPAP nightly ever since. My problem is that I recently got my hair cut short. Prior to my haircut I always slept with my hair in a ponytail with the strap from my mask sitting securely just below it. The ponytail itself kept the strap from moving.
Now with short hair the behind the head strap is constantly sliding up the back of my head and my nasal pillows will not stay put. I'm getting to the point that I'd be getting more sleep without cpap than with.
Any suggestions on how to keep this strap secure would be so very very appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Try a winter stocking hat. Some folks here use them.

http://www.crownwear.com/

These are made for helmet liners and also a little pricey to try, but they work.

The lined ones (silk) I think, especially don't muss the hair.

The Sheriff's suggestion would probably be the best first trial if you could find a thin one that is not too hot

Always something isn't it?

Steve

Simple solution.... a small piece of Velcro ( the rough side not smooth side out) attached to the inside of the strap will stop the strap from sliding. The rough side of the Velcro sticks to your hair to keep the strap in place but doesn't hurt your hair. I use the package of little circle velcros... you would be surprised at how handy those little circles are. I have one on each corner of the bottom of my machine, keeps it from moving on my night stand

I use the Opus 360 mask. Love it and hope I won't have to change it, but if I do, I do.

You might take a look at chemo caps, too.
They make some really cute styles.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually had to google the winter stocking cap suggestion. I had never heard that term in my 60 years. Found out it is a torque. Guess my Canadian is showing. Lol lol
