Hypopnea incidents

The more hypopnea incidents I have, the worse my AHI and my sleep.

What are the main parameters that I can control that will affect that, please?

I personally think a soft cervical collar might help - to keep your head up, thus helping to keep your airway open, and mouth closed vs potentially open. Flow rates may be reflecting blockage (partial) of your airway if your head is down, constricting your airway.

Julie,

Thank you for that idea.

Given the availability and cost, what the heck. Chicken soup type of thing.

I sleep on my side and I know that I tuck my chin down when I sleep.

Off to the drug store.

I'll let you know.

Your minimum pressure is too low.
It's allowing too many snores and flow limitations......which are driving your pressures up.......making for erratic pressure swings. Plus, it would probably keep some of the Hypopneas from occurring.

I posted here a couple of days ago about hypopnea events and the corresponding AHI and poor sleep. Typically if I'm over 15 events, I don't sleep well. First night was 5 events and last night was 2 events.

One of the suggestions was that my low end pressure was too low.

Increased it by 0.5. I know it's only two days, but the first night was 0.95 and last night was 0.87. I don't know if I've ever had an AHI under 0.9 since I got my machine last September.

Also changed the machine and turned the ramp function back on for a 5 minute duration.

Fingers crossed that the majority of nights continue this way.

Thanks again.
