I've heard from Rested Gal. I would like to know how the rest of you who are active sleepers handle your hose at night.

I'm not asking for any smart remarks, but am sure a few will give them anyway.

I'm looking for ideas because the damn thing is driving me nuts!

I can't be of much help, I just have the hose lying on the bed next to me. If I start getting some rainout, I pull it under the covers. Nothing spectacular or uncommon.

Liam, who prefers "slightly down the left pant leg".

I solved the rainout problem by asking my friend to make a hose sleeve for me that is polar fleece lined with Thinsulate. Cost about $5.00 and works great.

CPAP device is on the floor under the head of the bed. Hose goes between the wall and the headboard, held nicely in place by the bit of friction created by the polar fleece. I'm using a Respironics Comfort-Lite (like the Breeze) so the hose attaches behind my head. This system works great for me.

One HUGE PROBLEM, I don't have a headboard, don't like them.

No headboard? Put a clip on the wall to hold the hose up there. It's simple and cheap, and solves the problem. I toss and turn all night with my Activa mask and never have a hose issue with it up over my headboard. A small towel ring would probably serve you well if you try this hose position. Another benefit of it is my exhaust doesn't bother my wife.

Using my Nasal Aire II interface, the hose connection is on my chest and I just let the hose go off the side of the bed to the generator. No problem at all with hose position no matter how I toss and turn, as long as I don't keep turning in the same direction and reel the hose around myself.

Using my Swift I have the hose connection up on my head. I direct the hose between my pillow and the headboard; this provides enough friction to keep it in place. I adjust it so there is enough hose between the pillow and the mask connection to allow full freedom of motion. I am sure it would work the same if hose was directed between pillow and wall,since you don't have a head board. I find it doesn't matter which side of the Swift I attach the hose to.

then got the polar fleece hose cover. Now no more rainout! I run the
hose directly from the nightstand, under the covers down toward the
bottom of the bed, then U-turn and back up along itself, until it
reaches my mask. Unfortunately, some times I roll over and flatten
the hose such that I get no air. (One big apnea of 250 pounds). Other
times I roll around and pull the PAP box off the nightstand. I am
thinking about forgetting the under the covers stuff, and going with
the Aussie heated hose over the headboard next. Anyone hang himself yet and live to tell about it?

I have the machine on the floor next to the bed and run the hose up at the head of the bed. I don't have a headboard, so I find the pillow tends to trap the hose against the wall. If I move, the pillow and therefore the hose tend to move with me.

My machine sits slightly lower than the bed so the hose tends to fall off the edge a lot. But with the FF mask it doesn't really seem to be an issue. Often, the hose ends up under the covers and then off the edge...


Are you having a problem with it getting caught or?

I've heard several people mention that their machines are on the floor. I was told not to do that. I didn't question it at the time but assumed that the filter would get dirtier quicker being near the floor.

I'm going to try to rig something up on my wall, maybe a tack like Crisp said would be the least destructive to my wall.

Are we not suppose to be putting our machines on the floor? GOOD QUESTION- Lets put that out there for question.

Well I would suspect you will have to change the filter more often with it sitting on the floor. Mine sits on top of my Hepa filter so the air coming in is right out of the filter...
