I understand you can not read every post on here. But I do expect you to notice when a member has been bullied for MONTHS. You have done nothing to prevent, or discourage the abuse of the forum rules.
If you allow your customers to be mistreated by other forum members, then you do not deserve my business.

It is time for the Forum Administrators to put an end to the bullying and get rid of the people who can not follow the rules of conduct.

Thank you.
Howdy Cardsfan,

Thanks very much for your business and past support.

I received a PM last week along the same lines. I'll share my reply to it with you and CPAPtalk now.
Howdy,

I don't think you really want me to do what you ask. It assumes I can use a heavy hand to "fix it". I can't. It'll be more broken and less free.

The only way to win here is to be vigilant and have better ideas.

I think CPAPtalk waxes and wanes. I've watched with great displeasure at some comments, but I've also seem strong rebuttals. Good has always won in the past and it'll win here in time.

My job is to keep it free. Your job is to make sure good triumphs in message and spirit.

In conclusion and respectfully, no, I won't change the shape of CPAPtalk just because we're having a bad month. They don't get to have that impact on us.

Johnny
We are the community we build and choose. Nothing more or less. If there's a hero to ride in and make things better, it is you.

Johnny
Well said, Johnny...

Interesting that this forum has been around for 11 years without moderators and it has done nothing but grown over that time. Heart Jumping is full of crap

I'm irritated by seeing people who come here for help, who don't say an unkind word to anyone else, many of whom are clearly desperate and depressed, be mistreated by a couple of members. People who are desperate and depressed are the most likely to be affected by that. And I'm voicing my opinion about it, and if that irritates you....actually NO, I wouldn't tell you to leave. You help a lot of people and are by and large supportive.[/quote]

I have to agree. I'm so new and still learning and it is very off putting to post questions and have people respond to you like you are stupid. I mean, I am stupid about cpap, like everyone was in the beginning...I think the 'old timers' forget how intimidating it is when you first start out. I have thick skin, but I'm sure there are people who still need help, but never return because of how members talk down to them.

And I don't think that just because the forum has grown means it's successful, it's just the only forum around for cpap help, at least that I've found. I bet it could be more successful if some people didn't come on here just to put others down and belittle them. I don't know whatever happened to the old adage if you can't say something nice, than say nothing at all...but it is definitely not used in this forum.

You want the help and information but all you do is bitch because people expect adults to do adult things. You want free, you want MY way. You want ME ME MY WAY! Right,if you want help put up with the community there is no free lunch. It is not all about you! The world is not a kindergarden. If you have a chronic health problem and "people are not nice" drives you away then it can't mean a lot to you.

OK, I never fucking said anyone was mean TO ME, or put ME down did I? I was referencing things I have read on people's posts, not making it about me AT ALL. But here you all go, putting down what I am saying. Point made.

It doesn't matter if it doesn't apply to you. Yes I am putting it down because it is expecting things for nothing, for expecting to be in kindergarden.

What am I expecting for nothing, I don't know what you mean. Expecting that people would treat others as adults? It's kindergarten, you learn that in kindergarten. That is how some of you talk to people, just showing you what it's like.

There are a number of very good alternatives. Apneaboard.com is a moderated forum with excellent resources and good help. Check it out. Just don't post a commercial link there.

There are people that can cope with administrative oversight, and others that have a real problem with authority. Either can be knowledgeable and helpful. If you prefer a moderated environment, that alternative exists, and it's very good. If you enjoy a more free-ranging conversation that includes uncensored content and behavior, this is it. Those in need can find help in either place, but at CPAPtalk, if you are trolling, or trying to help and are in any way inaccurate, you'll be challenged. At Apneaboard, trolls or bad posts tend to get ignored or banned. You're free to choose the environment you're comfortable with,or find more entertaining.

on the one hand, you say you expect people to treat others as *ADULTS* then on the other, you want them to be all sweet and kind and pampered.... like kindergarten.

adulthood is tough. like sleeprider says, if you want kindergarten minders... go to apneaboard, and leave the adults alone.

I'm sorry, in my adult world where I work with all social workers and nurses, we actually are pretty damn nice to one another. You are right, I am better suited to a community where people treat each other with respect.
