Why aren't you using it?

Other "issues" with those old ResMed S8 machines are the lack of card readers to read the data card and many of the machines don't even have the data card in them. Plus, the data cards themselves are nearly impossible to find anywhere now. They also require ResScan software (can't use SleepyHead software) IF the card and reader can be obtained, otherwise the only data is from the LCD screen, which is limited.

Those old auto machines also used the A10 algorithm which didn't pursue many events above the pressure of 10 cm. (hence the name of the algorithm). They had limited effectiveness when used in auto mode and were probably better used as straight/fixed pressure CPAP machines.

Some machines from that generation also had other problems, too. But, like anything else, it's "the luck of the draw".

My "guess-timation" would be about $100 (at the most).

When I got issued the S8 I tried it for over a week and then stopped because I didn't like it. Now I have a new machine that I actually use so I am getting rid of the old one.
Having spares/backups can't be overemphasized. If you read through even a few pages of this forum or do searches on the words "backup" or "spares", you'll find MANY stories about users' machines quitting, getting pulled off the nightstands, or other circumstances when having a backup machine is a necessity. Your equipment is worth more as a backup than what you'll get out of it trying to sell it. As I've often said, "Murphy's Laws" apply to this therapy, too. It's usually during the night when the DME is closed or other inconvenient set of circumstances. They all have one characteristic......they blow the air we need to keep our airways open. Even a "I didn't like it" machine will work as a substitute in a pinch.

To see the mask fits my face and if it is comfortable or not. For example I use a Large face mask but a small nose pillow. Get it?
Got it. These are masks you tried for yourself and they didn't work for you. I was confusing your thread with another that was selling items from a medical auction.

No biggie, thanks for commenting though. I need to start reading up and commenting on other threads.

Agree on the need for backup. I have had 2 out of 2 previous machines start printing error codes or beeping and refusing to start or stay on. Often, it's a matter of cleaning or re-seating a connection. Sometimes, adding a screw is necessary! But you're not going to be trying to do a repair job in the middle of the night when it stops working.

Having a backup machine gives you huge peace of mind. It doesn't have to be as new a model as your regular machine, but have something that will get you through a week or few until you can get your main machine repaired.
