life span of remstar machine?

Post by wirefire » Wed Feb 23, 2005 1:36 pm

Does anyone know how long a cpap mahine should last ? I use a remstar plus and I don't know what I would do if it just quit working.
Thanks.

It's hard to say for sure. If your machine is working fine and you don't get water in it or drop it, you'll have it for a long time. If it does quit on you, then just buy the new Remstar Plus w/C-flex at cpap.com for $415

I have the Remstar Auto. I asked the same question to my DME. Their reply was 5-6 years.

They told you that because insurance "gives " you a new one every 5 years and they want their cut.

Wirefire,

5 to 6 years is a safe bet. The oldest cpap I ever saw, was a patients 11 year old Respironics(don't recall the model name). Of course, they use to be about 2ft square and made of metal but...... it worked. With prices as they are on the net these days, a second or back-up cpap is an option.
