Persistent Mask Line Redness (Even after pad-a-cheek)

Post by Zzzer » Mon Jun 22, 2015 2:50 pm

I've used a Quattro FX FFM for the past 2 years with relatively few issues. However, about 3 months ago, I started noticing red lines on both sides of my nose where the mask makes contact with my face. Up to that point, I did not use a liner. Once I started noticing the redness, I began applying moisturizers, even petroleum jelly, each day to the dry red lines. Nothing seemed to work, so I installed my pad-a-cheek and have been using it for over a month. Still no change in redness, so just today, I bought lanolin, based on some posts here and will begin using it later today.

My fear is I have developed a skin issue that is more than just an irritation. Does anyone have an idea if this can be permanent or if the skin can become infected by contact with the mask or liner? What else can I do?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to see a dermatologist... we're not doctors, much as we like to play them.

I second that suggestion.

Thanks. I plan to make an appt., but I was just curious if others had similar experiences.

while at your dermatologist, mention the concoction of ointments that you have used... My bet is one of them or possibly a combination may have caused your issues.

It's also possible that whatever you used to wash the pad-a-cheek liners may not have rinsed out completely and caused your issues

pad-a-cheek liners are almost completely allergen free... simple fabrics...

Thanks DD.

I'm not suggesting the pad-a-cheek caused my skin issue. My only point is that the issue did not clear up after using the p-a-c, like I hoped it would.
