Machine failures

I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with ResMaster Pro+ Cpap. My original unit I had about 4 years about 4000 hours on the blower and it started giving me problems. When I would turn it on I would get 3 small puffs of air then the machine would reboot itself. It would do this 3 times then eventually display Service Required. Eventually turning it on and off several times I could finally get it going. Eventually it wouldnt start at all. I contacted my supply place and they gave me a loaner. Same machine type, This unit has less then 3000 hours and I am starting to have the same problem. It there something I can check or do to correct it. I find it hard to believe that 2 different units having the same exact problem. Its extremely frustrating when your ready to lay down to have to deal with this. Even worse I have had the machine stop in the middle of the night.

I see most of those are ref the 550p I believe my unit is a 450. Would that still apply?

In a twist of irony, the machine completely failed on me last night. I am unable to get it up and running again. Since this one is a loaner from the supply company I hesitant to up it up and check the connection/screw. How often do the machines get replaced from the insurance companies. I am hoping that I can get a different brand machine.

Is the DME going to repair the unit? What cost? It may be less expensive to pick up a comparable unit from one of the members who sell such things from time to time. Check out Second Wind as a possible source.

If they tell you it is not economically repairable, what does your insurance company say about reimbursement for a new one?

Is there a particular reason for wanting to shift to another manufacturer?

Since this one is a loaner can you take it back and have it replaced with another one?

Well the reason I want to get away from these machines, I have had 2 of them fail in the same exact way. I am getting a little hesitant on the quality of the build of them. The first machine had 4000 hours when it failed. This one has only 1500 (just checked) and it failed. It basically just sits there beeping at me saying service required. The DME told me they sent out my unit for repair but that was almost 5 months ago. They said the turn around time has been extremely slow. I am trying to find out from my insurance company the min time I need to have it before I can get a replacement. The one person I spoke with at Cigna didnt know the time but told me usually I will have to do a second sleep study. Thats fine for the long haul but in the short term I cant go with out a machine.

To be clear, are you talking about Philips Respironics System One Remstars?

FWIW adding the screw to hold down the board did nothing to change things on my fussy 550.

I picked up a new 60-series courtesy of a Craigslist ad and the 550 will be used only for backup.

I had a PR fifty series and it was as problematic as a burlap bag full of wet cats (tho I'm sure people have some that have stood the test of time). That's why the series sixty came out so quickly and has demonstrated itself reliable (I've had a series sixty that has performed flawlessly for a year and a half)... that taken into consideration, I suspect a lot of problems were fixed with the PR series sixty. BTW, be sure to change the filters as required! Dirty filters put a big strain on the air impeller/pump.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

If you are using the same power cord with both of the machines, try a different power cord..."brick". Ps....it isn't taking 5 months for a repair. Ask the dme if they've received the estimate on your machine.
