A humidifier did not come with the BiPAP unit. (Normally, if one gets a BiPAP unit from Apria is the humidifier included?)

I assumed that the humidifier that came with the CPAP unit would fit the BiPAP since the plug in port (a six prong thingy below the air input) looked like the one in the BiPAP unit. What it says under the unit is: "System One Htd Humid, DOM, REF DS6HFLG, and IP22"

Fortunately, I don't normally use the humidifier. I find it makes the air seem "heavy".

And I was asking this question because I wanted to know whether to report to my RT that--according to the data--my mask was leaking. I was wondering if, given months of use, the rubber on the nasal mask changes (becomes less supple?) thus causing the annoying leaks. On the other hand, it could be that I'm getting older.

If this report is typical, then Large Leaks are not a problem. But as masks age, the cushions can loose their ability to seal. And sometimes the first sign of that are small, annoying leaks that are not large enough to get flagged as an Official Large Leak, but they need to be addressed anyway because small annoying leaks can interfere with our ability to sleep well because they're annoying. (A small leak that's not annoying enough to disrupt your sleep can be ignored. There's no reason to chase leaks that are small enough to NOT affect therapy AND also are NOT annoying enough to be disruptive of your sleep.)

How did you know I was using a PR System One REMstar Bipap Auto SV Advanced device?

The combination of the pressure curve and the leak curves. The combination is a dead giveaway.

Does the "P" indicate Pro (which appears in some of the other items listed).

the only part that matters is the number, the letters that come after indicate things like whether it has a heated hose, or humidifier, etc...

the 'pro' is printed on the face of the constant pressure machines that aren't bricks, whereas the bricks say 'plus' (even though it isn't).

again, the only bit that matters is the number.

I was coming back to post this, I already gave him the link to krelvin's pages on arranging sleepyhead, taking a screenshot and posting it to imgur, but I'm guessing he didn't follow them through.

that's probably what the p meant, 'no humidifier.

pugsy is right about what you should put on your equipment listing, the 50 series humidifier that you have listed will not fit the 60 series machine you have.

listing a 50 series humidifier and a 60 series machine leads to confusion because it makes people say "well, which do you have? a 50 or a 60 series'?

If you aren't using a humidifier then just leave that menu selection blank so nothing shows up.
People might wonder a bit as to why you don't (your personal preference is a good enough reason) but it will be less confusing if at least remove the 50 series humidifier choice.
You can always add a comment like "no humidifier needed at this time" in the comments section.
But did you know that with the 60 series heated hose you can actually have moisture without much added warmth to the air temp? So if there comes a time where you feel the added moisture would help your nose...there are ways to get it without having to breathe in sauna like air temps.

I don't care for very warm air at all in the warmer months but I need the warmer air in the winter months because my bedroom is always cold....but my nose desperately needs the added moisture and a lot of it.
So with the heated hose I can use warmer air in the winter and much cooler air in the summer and not have to sacrifice the moisture that my nose needs.
With the PR S1 60 series heated hose you can set it so it adds as little as 4 degrees to the room air temp and still get moisture choices separately.

Now I'm real curious about my humidifier unit. (I had thought of leaving it in my equipment because I might use it when I use my CPAP machine.) Now I'm wondering if I just specified the wrong unit.

Here's its history.
- When I was sent my CPAP machine this humidifier came with it.
- When I was sent my BiPAP ASV machine a humidifier did not come with it.
I remember bringing this up with a RT who said to check the connection (the thingy below the air intake. The air intake on the humidifier is that part that accommodates the air outtake of the respirator unit.) If the humidifier (male) matched the respirator (female) then I was set to go.

It did. Therefore I expected that I lucked out and in fact have a respirator unit that works with the BiPAP machine.

I just tried hooking the two units together. They fit perfectly! Therefore I assume I do have a humidifier that works both with my CPAP and BiPAP machine. (I might even try it out this evening! First I'll have to reposition the respirator so that the humidifier doesn't cantilever over the edge of my bedside shelves. And I have to locate my distilled water...)

that one. just like the REF number on the blower unit.

but it's even easier. the 50 series humidifier has a 4 pin connector, the 60 series humidifer has a 6 pin connetor.

look at the sides of the machines, and the sides of the humidifiers, the pinouts should match.

What's the "heated tube" thing all about? How is it different from PR humidifiers wo the heated tube?

The heated hose offers more customization of both the humidity that is delivered and separate customization of air temperature.
Originally thought mainly to prevent condensation in the mask or hose but there are other benefits as well.
Like in the winter I prefer a cold bedroom but I don't like a cold nose and with the heated hose I don't have ice cube nose which is real uncomfortable and what I dealt with without the heated hose.
