Links to Online Sleep Music & Relaxing Sounds
Like others here, insomnia has often added to my challenges with apnea. Over time I find it's easier to drift off into sleep accompanied by white noise, nature sounds or easy-listening music. I've used one or the other every night for years. Any similar experience or favorite music you like to use would be welcome added info. to this thread.
These have been my favorite sleep music and nature sounds. Sleep well, friends.

Re: Links to Online Sleep Music & Relaxing Sounds
On the smartphone, youtube makes a poor sleep aid since the screen wants to be on. also, if you pretty much touch the phone at all, the tracks stop playing as you switch away from the youtube app.
I find what I want and rip it to an MP3 which allows me to create a playlist and then just play that using one of many apps that will do that without the screen on. Don't need video or screen at all anyway. I also do this with ASMR tracks.
I have a set of 9 tracks which I call sleep tracks, which I play with head phones with NC on random every night. I rarely hear the 3rd or 4th song and when the 9 tracks are over, I have silence with NC for the rest of the night.

I went to Bed Bath & Beyond and got a small noise maker. White noise and running water, rain, and several more. It helps me tremendously due to Tinnitus, sleeping well these nights...

Ok.
For the average pap user, I guess you'd recommend using a tablet or laptop on a bedroom end table with headphones? The screen goes blank after a few minutes, time delay preset by the user. I have a 10-inch laptop going that way. Also a Kindle Fire tablet that I'm going to try out. I imagine 5 speaker surround sound would be nice if you sleep alone. Am not familiar with NC?

Re: Links to Online Sleep Music & Relaxing Sounds
I don't actually listen to music in bed. I do wear headphones and listen to music (and browse news online) for a few hours before I hit the bed. Mostly metal but hard rock too. I have no idea why Motorhead calms me like a lullaby but once I put my mask on I'm off to dreamland!

Re: Links to Online Sleep Music & Relaxing Sounds
For some reason, the human voice has always been the best soporific for me. So I listen to podcasts via Stitcher at night. Stitcher app has a sleep timer that I use for the first phase of my sleep. I'm usually fast asleep before it turns off at about 20 minutes. (I'm usually asleep within seconds of hitting the pillow AS LONG AS I've got Stitcher on--but no go with just listening to my CPAP machine). I have a pillow speaker, and it helps that my husband can't hear much without his hearing aids.
I wake up, usually around 4 a.m. and have a much harder time going back to sleep then. So I turn Stitcher back on without the timer and sleep eventually. I've learned what podcasts have annoying music which wakes me up, and I avoid them (usually obnoxious theme music). Unfortunately, one of my favorites--Fresh Air--is a no no because sometimes David Viancooli (misspelled, I'm sure) reviews music that wakes me.
Sometimes the podcasts incorporate themselves in my dreams in the funniest ways. The funniest was when This American Life had the story about a family that raised an ape, and then returned it into the wild. The podcast featured a telephone call to a woman named "Janice"--the phone rang and then the host said "Janice? Janice?" I woke up trying to answer the phone with my mask on-- I've also had nightmares when a podcast subject is about some violence.
It's probably not healthy or good for sleep hygiene to do this, but it's the only way I've found to get enough sleep.

Re: Links to Online Sleep Music & Relaxing Sounds
That's a lot of links, Papit. Thanks for the comprehensive list.
If anybody wants to edit or sample their sound sources there's a great audio sound editor for MS that's called Audacity. It's free and very easy to use for making your own sound mp3 files... you can also make them any length and mix them as you please with other sound files. Here's my recent write up on the topic including the link to Audacity. Did I mention it's free? I like brainwave entrainment sounds that are available free on the internet. I'll have to look for the links on entrainment music.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Links to Online Sleep Music & Relaxing Sounds
Not really... thinking smaller, less obtrusive.Papit wrote:For the average pap user, I guess you'd recommend using a tablet or laptop on a bedroom end table with headphones?
They have these things call MP3 players, really small (some as small as a bic lighter or small thumb drive and don't cost much, hold thousands of songs, easy to setup playlists, and don't need network access. Inexpensive ($7 - $20) etc...
MP3's are easy to get, best without DRM like from Amazon so you can play them anywhere, you can get single tracks or a full albums. Much better sound than a YouTube video.
A notebook would be kinda of over kill, big etc... even a tablet might be a bit large. And of course almost any smartphone (android or iphone) have MP3 player abilities either streaming or via storage on the phone.
In my case, I use my smartphone with volume muted for all other sounds, it sits on the bed near my bed as I don't move much when I sleep. Only sounds I will hear are what is coming out the headphones, and if the phone rings. Text Messages are quiet except the one for a specific number from work so I can hear it. I keep it plugged in for charging so when I get up it is fully charged.
Smartphones can also stream from services like Google Music, Spotify, Amazon where you have access to 10's of thousands of good quality music etc..
Noise Canceling. Even after the songs are over, the headphones quiet the area so small noises don't disturb, can't even hear mask noise, cpap machine, cats in the other room, even thunder from a local thunderstorm.Am not familiar with NC?
I like your TELNET company pap information page. https://sleep.tnet.com/

Yeah, yeah, I received two in the past couple years as gifts. I ought to give one a try. It's probably 'unorthodox' to think about doing, but have you any idea how I'd, for example, go about saving my list of rainy noise, bird sounds, favorite music list to one of my MP3 players? Remember, I have insomnia and use a lot of white noise and music to help me eventually doze off.
I heard about it. 'Sounds' amazing. Thanks for cueing me in.Krelvin wrote:Noise Canceling.
