Holding on until I talk to CPAP.com

Post by ThisIsMyUserName » Mon Apr 28, 2014 4:04 pm

All,

This thread caused more of a stir than I had intended. I don't see a way to remove a thread, so I just edited it and am removing my post in favor of this one. I'm also going to remove my various comments. Per the response at the bottom, I'm going to PM the CPAP.com owner directly, and see what shakes out. I am a pretty reasonable guy and this chatroom has been great for me, and I am hoping things just work themselves out. If they don't, I'll come back on just to let people know what the issue is so they can avoid it themselves.

Could you tell us specifically which of their batteries it is?

I'm about to buy another back up battery for the PRS1 60 series machine and was considering the CPAP.com branded light weight battery, this one as a matter of fact:

I couldn't afford to make this big of a mistake.

I must say I'm more than a little surprised by their attitude as you recount it.

You have given us a very general account of your problem from your point of view without any details. Without actual details of the battery's behavior and what you expect the battery's behavior to be, it is hard for us to judge whether CPAP.com is in the wrong here or you are being unreasonable.

Even the best rechargeable batteries can fail if allowed to sit for months without any activity.
--It is the nature of battery physics/chemistry.
If anyone has a better design, they will be millionaires.

Some information missing here...when did you get the battery? How many times have you used it? Did you get it out every couple of months and top off the charge when you weren't using it?

I'm not questioning your experience, just trying to understand the big picture. These batteries do have a limited lifetime, and letting the charge go down as they just sit around is not advisable. I have a large Li-ion battery that I pull out every couple of months when I'm not using it to top off the charge...that's what the company that resells them from China (of course) tells you to do.

I've not experienced bad customer service from cpap.com, so I'm curious what happened here.

Try speaking to them directly, instead of trying to slander them.
They have been quite reasonable with me, and even accepted a return from me that they did not have to.
You have ignored requests for more information. Dish, already.

Chunky, that's unfair. I've been answering questions as quick as I can, and I spoke to them at length today. I'm happy to resolve this with them, and happy to report when it's resolved. I'm upset, and accusing me of slander is unfair.

I don't see any slander in the post.

Re-read the post. There is a description of this person talking to cpap.com

Of course I agree. I would have ignored that comment if I were you.

Just my response to your initial thread title--sorry if that was not your intent.
Edit--Since it worked 5 months ago, and holds a charge now--this is strange.
My battery needs refreshing since I let it set too long--my fault.
But yours must be a more reliable battery--supposedly.

I am glad I took the time to read this. I had no idea getting a battery backup is such a problem for cpap.
If my electric goes out I guess I will either just stay up or get into the car and drive until I find electric.
