SleepWeaver Anew - How to Connect?

Post by frustratednewuser » Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:37 pm

I received the SleepWeaver Anew Full Face Mask, as I decided that since it comes with free return insurance it was worth a try. However, it comes assembled with its own elbow tube part and I can't figure out how to connect it to the ResMed machine hose, which has an elbow at the end that doesn't seem to be detachable. Any hints?

Thanks!

Howdy,

I think there might be a part from your previous mask that you left at the hose connection. There should be nothing in the end of your hose. I took pictures of the hose and the Anew mask showing how they fit together:

1) Showing both ends

2) Showing the end of the hose should be clear

3) Showing the end of the mask

4) Mask going into hose

5) Mask and hose connected

See if these help.

This is extremely helpful, Caroyn! Yes, the elbow that's currently in the hose clearly has to come out but it doesn't seem to want to pull out. Do I just pull until it ultimately gives way?

Thanks so very much for taking the time to do this!

Cliff

Pretty much that is what you have to do but you might try a little soap at the connection (like a little soapy water) to see if it helps any...sort of like using soap to take off a ring that gets stuck on a finger.
You don't want to break the plastic if you can help it because it goes to another mask.
Normally working those pieces back and forth with tugging will loosen them up. It likely just got crammed in a bit too far and the rubber is gripping it too tight.

I find that if I grab one side with my finger, kinda like trying to shove your finger in the hose end, and prying off one side, works better than the twist/pull method ...

Hello, I would very much like to help you with this issue- how to fit the ANEW to your Res Med hose. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in- and I will send you my contact information via a PM.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi again,
I did have a 2nd thought regarding your situation.
IF you had been wearing a quattro mask before trying the ANEW mask - this 'could ' be a solution. Sometimes the Quattro elbow detaches from the mask easier than it detaches from the hose- so one idea is to put the old mask back on and run the elbow under hot water for a few minutes.

That might help you out.

Thanks!
Kathy
