Your opinions please about my DME

Post by NeedHelp2 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 2:32 pm

I have been on APAP for 1 month now and during that time I would have said that I have the rare "good" DME. They gave me the S9 Autoset immediately upon telling them that is what I wanted. They have given me no trouble. They also let me try as many masks as I wanted during the first 30 days.

Now, I ordered and just received (in the mail) 2 new replacement cushions. One cushion smells of cigarette smoke and the other smells of disinfecting chemicals.

I have had great service until this from this DME. Otherwise, I would dump them quickly. Maybe I still should dump them. Thoughts?

call and complain and demand that they send you replacements in sealed packaging.

i would bring the cushions to the office and let the office manager have a chance at fixing the problem.

That is certainly the way to go for this particular order.

My concern is whether I need to find a different DME. There are many in my area.

If they fix the current problem with no attitude, wait and see what happens next time and then decide.

Sounds like they got the returns mixed in with the new stuff. Probably a human error. I would give them the chance to correct it.

ok, this sounds good. Thanks for everyone's input. I am going to see if they fix this, and then give them another chance in the future.

Yeah right, a human error. Or possibly human greed, a close cousin.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Agreeing with the others: I'd give the DME a chance to fix the problem. If they do it without any questions and without giving you any grief, consider it a (bad example) of human error.

This sounds very reasonable and the course that I would take. The only difference is that I would ask them to add in the computer: "For resupplies, please send only new, manufacturer sealed equipment." It grosses me out to think that they sent used supplies. Yuck!

One would think this is a given but may help in this situation. If they again broke your trust, I, personally, would look for someone more reliable.

Ask the DME straight out if they DID in fact send you USED supplies.

If they did, and even if it was a "mistake", tell them very strongly that you do NOT expect that to ever happen again.

NO ifs, ands, or buts ! !

thank you. The mask cushions were just in a sandwich plastic baggy. Do the ResMed replacement cushions not come in manufacturer packaging? I am having a hard time believing that this was an accident.

They come sealed in a manufacturer bag unless robbed from a package that contains a full mask setup.
Clearly stating manufacture name

Sealed in a baggie...no telling where that cushion had been or how long it had been out there.
