new mask resmed Quattro air
new mask resmed Quattro air
Picking up tomorrow. Does anyone have any experience with this mask? I used it in the sleep study and it worked great, very light, but a little cumbersome.
I usually wear contacts, but at night out on glasses. The glasses are hard as hell to get wedged inside the top brace.
Looking forward to getting it and starting to use it.

Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
I loved that mask and the simplicity of it, the light weight, everything. Well, almost everything. After about an hour or maybe less my lower lip just slides out of the bottom of the mask with predictable results! Nothing I can do to stop it. I have a large noggin, so I thought maybe the crown strap that goes over the head wasn't letting the mask go low enough, but unfortunately they don't make a larger headgear for it. The mask runs pretty small. I have a large but seems ike I need an XL, which isn't available.
Hope your experience is better than mine. I really wanted it to work!

Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
It has a forehead brace, and will thus interfere with wearing glasses. So if you have glasses, there are good masks without any braces, like the QFX, amongst others. So why not just try those if wearing glasses is important.
Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
The mask is designed for sleep. I wear glasses, but not when I sleep. I watch TV while in bed with my glasses on. When I am ready for sleep I put on my mask and turn off the lights. IMO, the only reason for wearing glasses with your mask is if you are starting out on CPAP and need to get used to your mask during non-sleep time.

Thanks folks..I will see what the DMS person says tomorrow. I only wear glasses at night so not a huge deal, but more off a pain in the ass.
Is this a good mask? Quiet?
Thanks!

First night..went ok. Setting on #6. Almost seemed worse initially..more waking events. For better. But will take some time to get used to the mask. Occasionally, I would lose the seal around my face...Will see how it goes
Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
Hi SkinsFan,
I still can't see why you would need to wear your glasses with the mask. For me, the mask goes on after the glasses have come off because I'm going to bed. I don't sleep with my glasses?
I'm receiving my Quattro Air for Her on Sunday so I'm quite looking forward to trying it out. I have free return insurance from cpap.com but I really hope not to have to use it. A while back, I had filled out a link from ResMed offering a free tester mask but I honestly didn't expect anything, especially since I live in Canada. A couple of months ago I was surprised to receive a FedEx package of a medium size Quattro Air for use "for my patients". Hmmm? I didn't pretend to be a clinic when I filled out the link but who knows. I tried it but it's way too big so I now have an xsmall on order (I normally use an xsmall Quattro mask.
I'll be posting here to let people know how my experience is. I hope it works out because even the medium size was a nice mask but too big.

Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
I've found this mask to be amazing. I've tried most FFM's and Hybrids without success -- this one keeps getting better:
Leaks:
I've had issues with leaks but found that this is one of the few masks i've tried where tightening seems to really help. I finally wake up without dry eyes, FINALLY!
Comfort:
It's incredibly comfortable -- i've had zero issues with rubbing or abrasions. Some FFM's i've tried have left giant red marks on my nose for over a month (namely the Amara) -- this one is great. First night i got about 6 hours of sleep I can now sleep 8 hours on this - primarily b/c it does very well even when in a side sleeping position.
Maintenance:
Really easy to clean -- i've found that if you don't clean it daily your more susceptible to leaks due to oil accumulation. The headgear clothe hooks are really easy to use -- I prefer them to clasps now, it's easier to work with in the middle of the night.
Results:
I have used nasal pillows for the past 8 months and never got an AHI lower then 4 despite taping and headgears. My first night with the Quattro Air was a 2 AHI i've also had a 1. I'm not sure if FFM's report lower but this thing is definitely my new go to mask. Starting to feel the results also -- after 8 months of so-so therapy.

Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
At first sleep, I also think the Quattro Air for Her is fantastic. Only one sleep though.
My pressure is 15 to 20 with 95% around 15.3.
Previous mask was Mirage Quattro. Tried Quattro FX but had too much leak issues so I hope the Air will continue to be leakless.

Looks like I should give this a shot and see what happens since no return insurance is being charged.

Re: new mask resmed Quattro air
While not completely leakless I find the Quattro Air to be my new favorite. Leak levels are lower than previous usage of Mirage Quattro and Quattro FX. I am using it with a Pad A Cheek mask liner and am very pleased.
I believe each of our faces has a different amount of curvature in different areas. Trial and error is the only way to determine which masks will work for you. My advise if you are using an Auto type machine of any type is to switch it to straight CPAP and test the mask at your 95% rate while in DME office or where ever you evaluate masks. That way you are not learning at 2am what works and what is an obvious flop.

Thanks STL Mark. That is good to know since if I remember correctly, you have a high pressure.STL Mark wrote:While not completely leakless I find the Quattro Air to be my new favorite. I know trial and error is the only way but sometimes it feels exhausting to try a million things before finding the right product. But since the return insurance is free, this seems like a good gamble.
