This Website is short of memory capacity

Post by avi123 » Wed Jun 19, 2013 12:05 pm

This Website is short of memory capacity. The owners seem to be skimpy of pouring enough money into its memory to keep it large enough to handle the growing activity. So the more junkie posts there are, the more difficulties in booting will occur. An immediate step that could be taken is to delete all of the above Announcements and leave the Topics only. Other options are deleting the Wiki and chopping down the total topics of 83403. Also, I know about successful Websites in which the original owners started to ask for money contributions. Is it the case here too?

ADDED:

The following is in reply to Nate in the next post:

I'm not having any difficulty booting into cpaptalk. The problem you describe above, combined with the problems you are having with ResScan, tends to confirm my hunch that you need to install more ram in your computer.

Nate said so!

I Use this:

With this much free memory:

Today, 6/19/2013 I was not be able to boot from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

8GB, which I have, costs less than $100 and will make you feel like you bought a new computer.

Regards, Nate

I've never had a problem with getting into this site on any of my devices, which includes a powerbook G4 that is over 8 years old and my tablet.

There are NOT any problems with this wonderful forum. I would definitely keep the topics and the wiki in the top section, as newbies need to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Avi, you are just complaining for the sake of complaining as usual...... THINK before you post, you would have a lot less headaches.
Many of us know what we are doing, but the poor newbies that have been pushed into this therapy by their uncaring doctors and DMEs need to know how and where to get the help they need to conquer their own therapy.. .... they don't need grumpy old men giving them smart ass misinformation. .
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I also have no problem getting into this site. I agree with Nate, maybe you need more ram in your computer. I have 8 Gig of ram in my computer.

I access it from both my PC and my phone. No issues at all.

No problem accessing it at all.

Avi - maybe you should have your machine checked for viruses and mal ware. You could have become a robot for some scammer - either that or the NSA has hooked into your system.

Avi....free disc space on your computer has nothing to do with how much RAM you may have or not have available.
To find RAM available and used you need to go to System Information...see screen shot below. I have 3 tabs open in FireFox and one of them is a RAM hungry online game..Photobucket also RAM hungry and cpaptalk.com.
CPAP.com loads just fine for me.

Did you know you can turn off some of the unwanted items on the main page?
Go to User Control Panel/ Board Preferences/ Edit Global Settings

It seems to be your memory that has a problem, along with how computers work in general.

A computer needs to "boot" the OS to run, your browser has to access web sites. Size and traffic and the web server and bandwith controls how fast a web site runs. Computer memory allows multi tasking, speed and stability to the OS. In windows 32 bit the usable memory is under 3.7 gb, adding more doesn't help, 62 bit allows use of more memory, but in the end the in out part of the motherboard is usually the bottle neck.

This site isn't your problem it's closer to home. At times web sites are down for updates or broken, but that's life, some days i'm broken too. Jim

Maybe the owner could use a donation to upgrade the system, we all could use more power, or you could buy some of those 12 ga shotgun shells they are developing for drones, I ordered 10 boxes myself

That's a report of the memory on YOUR computer, not this website, and you are showing us how much space you have on YOUR hard drive, not the webserver's!!!

If you could not boot up your computer, then it is sick!!!

I have no issues with this site. I agree that this sounds more like either a limitation of your PC (not likely) or some malware issue.

Yep. Not a web site problem. It's at your end.
