After a month of trying to sleep with a Quattro FX full-face mask, I have a few questions. Do the guys who design these things ever actually use them? I bet not! Simple things are overlooked … the buckles only fit into the clasps on the mask one way. Dah , if the strap is twisted and you are groping around in the middle of the night trying to hook it back up, with the lights off of course - no need to wake the wife while getting up to go to the bathroom and getting a drink to wet a dry mouth, - you have unnecessary frustration. Also, am I the only one who gets an itchy nose? Impossible to scratch through that hard plastic, isn’t it? Why not a soft silicone nose-piece? Come on guys, this ain’t rocket science. OK, so maybe I am in a small group of folks that need to wear a chinstrap to keep the inside of my mouth from turning into the Mojave Desert every night. So, another whole other brassiere-like contraption to hook up on your head, when a small chin strap could easily hook up to the mask? ResMed folks please wear your products and see what ideas will come in your dreams, or not.

I suspect they are brain dead.
I found the Respironics Full Life is similar, but has exactly the strap you describe.

Just FYI:

My hubby keeps his mask on while going to the bathroom & keeps a straw in his water to take a drink without removing mask. Straw fits just under the mask, breaks the seal for a minute or so, but when removed the seal re-seats itself. He says is so much work to 'mask up" again after taking it off that he just keeps it on. He uses the Amara, a FF mask.

I remove mine, but since mine is much easier to remove & put back on, I don't have his issue.

No matter how the masks are designed, there will ALWAYS be some people that will have problems with them. It takes patience..not all masks fit everyone. You may have the wrong type of mask or maybe you are not using your humidifier properly...how about filling in your equipment profile.

I wrestled with the Mirage Quattro (almost the same) for my first two weeks and finally realized it was not meant to be. I kept it as a backup, but switched mask type to the nasal pillows. I was pretty adept at masking/unmasking quickly, but I remember those nose itches.

I still get the occasional nose itch--I just scratch it; and reseat the cushion (It gets easy the more you do it.)

Reconsidering my Grumble:
I have a new WISP mask which resolved most of my complaints. I can’t say I “love” it. Sleeping in SCUBA gear will always be problematic, but for me it has been a heck of an improvement over the Quattro FX full-face mask. It’s much easier to scratch all those itchy places and I can now sleep on my side without creating a small hurricane. I still need the darn chin-brassiere, but my grumble has been reduced to a much smaller gripe.
