Smart car reader and software

Post by NoSlak » Wed Mar 29, 2006 2:23 pm

So, I saw that cppap.com sell these things, I was wondering if anyone has it and do they or can you look at your sleep patterns to see if you are still getting any apneas.
Since i have a CPAP I was wondering if I could look at my charts through the smartcard and reader that is sold here and change the pressure settings myself.
Only reason why I would do it myself is it seem that they want my smart card ( techs) about every 45 days then they give it to the doctor then he gets back to me. Seems like I could be sleeping all wrong for 2 months before anyone finds out.

YES! Many of us do have the card readers and software. And "yes", we can still see the apneas, hypopneas, mask leaks, snoring, etc., etc.
You could look at and print off your own charts and give/send them to your doctor and not have to give up your card. No sense in waiting months to find out if your therapy is working as good as it could be. You also wouldn't have to pay your doctor to read your card....if they would be inclined to do that (like another user recently stated here).

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Check this old thread for information about the software. There are other old threads that you can find by using the search feature. Search for "MyEncore" and/or "EncorePro" or "Encore Pro" to find posts on the Respironics software.

The odd's are your Dr. only see the hours you use your machine. ()compliance) I have a Good Dr. ??? and he can't read the card neither can my DME and that's in a town of 80,000. I'm probably the only one that can.

Sounds like you can turn the tables on your doctor and DME and start a card reading business (I'm not talking tarot cards but you can still wear the gypsy outfit if you want to ).

I'm new at all of this and was looking into the software and reader to try to get as informed as I can. From looking at the cpap.com they are selling the reader and software package that appears to be 1.5. They have a link for software upgrades, where there is currently a version 1.6. It is a controlled download site with a account number needed. Is that something that I/we can sign up and get so we can get the updates?

2 bills???

Arkanoid,

The version 1.6 is for the new "M Series" machines. The 1.5 and 1.4 versions will work just fine on the machines we now have. I'm using the 1.4.99 version. The download page on Respironics' site is now only available to DMEs and clinicians. At one time it was "open to the public" (whether they knew it or not) until somebody brought it to their attention (and it WASN'T me) and then they put an end to it.

2 bills???,

I'll bet you don't have a "paid for" licensed version of the software.

NoSlak,

You did fine. That's where I bought mine a year ago.

Best wishes,
