O.T. Why your Avatar?

Post by Kody » Sat Oct 29, 2011 1:53 pm

Since it's a weekend and kind of slow here.
Looking at all the Avatars here I never realized how many Animals are battling with Sleep Apnea. Apparently it effects Dog's and Cat's the most.
However seems to be other animals stricken as well like Deer, Frogs, Eagles, and I think I even saw a Hamster!

Just curious why you picked your particular Avatar?

Mine is my Australian Shepherd. We have two of them actually, but he is more friendly than the other one, so I thought that he would be the better choice.

I don't mind replying again.

The 2 babies in my avatar were twins that I got to watch grow up last year from tiny babies to big enough to finally jump the fence around the pasture. Wooded acreage with fence to keep horses in. We had several Mommas decided the tall overgrown grasses and trees were great places to have babies. Babies couldn't leave till big enough to jump the fence. So I got to watch them (and others) for about 5 or 6 months. Twins were the last to leave. They were younger and smaller.

I was probably 30 feet from them when I took that picture. I have pictures of more babies from this year but none match this one with the twins. Had an 8 point buck in my yard the other evening. Right next to my truck.
Awesome beauty he was. Not quite enough daylight to get good picture by the time I thought of it. Was too busy just watching him.

Mine goes with my username, which is a play on 'American' and my first name 'ken' (ameri-ken), so I thought a profile of the American bald eagle would be a fitting choice.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Mine is a self portrait I did this summer. It didn't quite work. All the bits are right but the assembly of them doesn't work so I picked the eyes which were dead on. This is the full picture.

When I first started here someone gave me instructions on how to upload a photo of my 2 teenage granddaughers as my avatar. When I proudly showed it to them I think they were a little "upset" that Grammy displayed them on her sleep apnea forum. They didn't say anything but after they left for home and I checked the forum, the little devils had made a switch and I haven't changed it because it's become a bit of a family joke now.

Huge Monty Python fan here. (Crunchy frog skit)
CPAP hose = python.
I substituted chunky for crunchy, since I resent being bitten.

The cardinal avatar is a photo I took outside my front door one winter.

I've used several different pics as my avatar on this forum over the past six years. Started out using Van Gogh's "Starry Night", then began using a photo of me, changing it each year. For a few months I used a photo of my favorite old showdog.

That's a beautiful Aussie you're using as your av, Kody.
