Help an Army vet please

Post by Gator5 » Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:37 pm

My AHI is 3.0. 2.9 on 30 day average. I have been home from middle east for almost 3years and recently Dec 2010 retired from Army. I have been on CPAP since 2007 with zero relief. I went to doctors again and then to another who finally seemed to know what he is doing. Then he says let's try Nuvigil thinking I might have narcolepsy and it's doing nothing but making my brain race but feels like I'm dragging my body. Any ideas or help needed. I am tired of being exhausted every waking minute of the day. Thank you all for what I've read so far.

Can you please tell us exactly which machine you are using? Sounds like Respironics machine. Did you know there is software available? What mask do you use? What leak rate is shown on the machine?

Please permanently add your equipment used to your profile. It helps us help you better.

Other things besides sleep related disorders will impact how we feel but the OSA thing needs to confirmed that it is being treated optimally, then look at other factors like fragmented sleep, pain, meds, other health issues, hours of sleep and a host of other stuff.

User control panel. Profile. Equipment tab. Must be saved for it to stick. Not sure if your choice is submit or save.
It will show up in posts like mine does here.

Which it why it would be best to write down all the words written on top of your machine and post them here. We can help you find it from there.

I will send you a private message about your software option in just a bit.
I am typing one handed so slow and brief.

You will need a very special card reader if you want to see software reports to make sure therapy is optimal.
This one. We can shop for cheaper but only by a few bucks,
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... r-USB.html

With software you can get more information than what you see on LED screen. Here is example of what yours would loo like.
Image

You have info on screen... The Pro 2 had data, unsure if regular Pro did but if you see it then it must.
Do you have one of these in the back?
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... -card.html

Could someone confirm what data is on the smart card for the pre M series Remstar Pro? From what I read only the Pro 2 offered AHI etc.

I wonder if you also, besides apnea, if you have either a lung problem or a heart problem. In my opinion often doctors take the course of least resistance and wait for a patient to come back to them saying their first choice of treatment is not working before they do other diagnosis. Which is not to say that you need to see the doc again before getting some info from others here.

If you have the Remstar Pro that shows in your profile (it does show the Restar Pro 2 when you click on it but you tell us it is a Remstar Pro), even with a card in it, you only get compliance data. Given that you got it on 2007, it may well be the Classic Remstar Pro.

That's the machine I started with. It has a smart card but only gives compliance data. If it is the Remstar Pro2, it will have detailed data.

If Remstar Pro pre M series machine which is non data machine where does the above data come from since OP states the above? Perhaps it is the Pro 2?

Yes, Pugsy. With the AHI data, the OP may have a Pro 2. I missed that. Thanks.

I also wondered about M series Pro but that name is so predominant on those machines I did not think it could be missed easily. Though I do believe they were available in 2007. Whichever machine it is, it does offer data but it is dated machine. Leak wasn't mentioned. So unsure if that is a factor.
