Help req. getting ResScan upgrade (3.12) working
Help req. getting ResScan upgrade (3.12) working
I have ResScan v 3.07 and it runs a little wonky. I've also read that the latest version, 3.13, has some bugs, so I'm not sure I want to go that far...
But is there an in-between version that might work better than what I've got and play nice with an S8 AutoSet and it's smart card, and Windows XP Home?

Re: ResScan upgrade?
Thanks, DreamDiver.
I tried to uninstall the soon-to-be old version, but there's no .msi file on my computer, so that step failed.
Anyone have experience of installing a newer version on top of the old one, and having that be successful? Or, is there another way to uninstall?

Re: ResScan upgrade?
It's okay to uninstall the old version. Your data will remain. Instead of using a .msi, you'll double-click the .exe that gets downloaded. Depending on how your system is setup and what browser you're using, it will download to your desktop automatically or to a download folder in your my documents folder, or directly in the my documents folder. Re: ResScan upgrade?
I can't uninstall...'add/remove programs' fails when it can't find the .msi file for version 3.7. I will try just running 3.12 from the download folder...
Re: ResScan upgrade?
Install still fails due to not finding the .msi file for 3.7.
Microsoft used to have a uninstall utility, but they have removed it from their website, because of problems it sometimes caused.
Any ideas on how to proceed?

Try using Revo Uninstaller to remove 3.7. Revo is da bomb.Jade wrote:Install still fails due to not finding the .msi file for 3.7.

You don't need the Pro version, just their freeware: http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html

Re: ResScan upgrade?
The obstacle course is getting trickier...
I got 3.7 uninstalled, and 3.12 installed. I restarted the computer.
When I open ResScan and try to load the patient file, nothing comes up and there's no error message... From Windows Explorer I can see the data files in the Patients folder, and as best I can tell they are complete, but they won't load.
Ideas?

Make sure 3.12 is working correctly by creating a new patient folder and downloading into it from your SD card.Jade wrote:The obstacle course is getting trickier...

Re: ResScan upgrade?
Created new patient. Downloaded data. This appeared to be working as it displayed a status bar. However, nothing appears in the Data window on the left side of the screen. I verified through windows explorer that the folder was indeed created, and there are data files there...I just can't see any of the data in ResScan.
3.12 is compatible with data from an S8, isn't it?
I had created some pdf reports previously and they show up and open fine...
This is especially annoying, as the main reason I upgraded is because with ResScan running, the cursor does not move smoothly but jerks around the screen, and typing often results in multiply duplicated keystrokes. This is still happening. argh!

Re: ResScan upgrade?
The cursor problem is not a Resscan problem per se. There is something else amiss on your computer. You might be running out of disk space. My suggestion at this point is:Jade wrote:Created new patient. Downloaded data. This appeared to be working as it displayed a status bar. 1. Uninstall Resscan
2. Download, install, and run CCleaner. It's a good free program. Let it clean up orphan registry entries and such. You may end up with some other broken programs so watch what it wants to delete and if it looks like something that is connected to a program you use regularly check (or uncheck) it so CCleaner doesn't delete it.
3. Go into Properties/Tools of your C: drive and perform defragmentation.
4. Reinstall Resscan.
5. Hopefully that will fix things.

Re: Help req. getting ResScan upgrade (3.12) working
If you are not comfortable doing the stuff above then I think it's time to bite the bullet and take your PC to someone like Office Depot and let them do a tune up. It'll cost you $50 or so but at this point it would be well worth it.

Re: Help req. getting ResScan upgrade (3.12) working
I (and/or my 'designated representative' ) are comfortable doing these things. I will look into CCleaner. Thanks for the recommendation.
The cursor and keystroke problem always happens when ResScan is running, and only ever happens when ResScan is running. This somehow makes me suspect ResScan over other programs.
My computer has over 100 GB (yes, gigabytes) of free space.
I clean up and defrag the hard disk regularly, as well as make backups. It's in good shape, having been defrag'ed recently.
If you (or other techies here, who may check in this evening (fingers crossed)) have any other ideas on determining the exact cause, I'd like to know how to track it down and resolve it, if possible.
