He said this morning,"I don't think anything was happening" It was turned on we did the mask fit thing, the ramp of 5 mins and apparently there is more to it. We are lost. People talk on this forum about settings 6-10 4-7 etc. ???His script was written for "9" and that's apparently what it was set at.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boughtn the machine on line sleep store. First question.
Exactly which S9 machine did you get? There are multiple models and responders to your questions will need to know which model.

Second question: Did you read the entire owner's manual carefully?

Third question: Do you have the provider's manual (also known as the clinical manual)? If so, did you read it carefully?

It will help if your will go to the User Control Panel in the upper left portion of the page under the banner and go to your Profile, then to the equipment page and fill in text please, what your equipment is. The S9 Auto
and also the type of mask being used. This will show everyone at a glance what you use and save time and questions.

So with that, what type of mask is being use? Brand and model?

I don't use the ResMed machine so all I can do is ask questions and I will let those that do use the ResMed machine help you with those details.

Do you like the Quattro? How are your leaks?

Finding the right mask is almost as hard as finding a good spouse.

I'm sorry if I'm confusing you, but if your machine is an Elite then it is a cpap and can only be set to one pressure, 9cm in your case, if it's an auto you can set it to a range of pressures(8-12cms)for example. Let us know for sure. Good luck and glad you found us.

It can NOT be an Elite and Autoset model, it is one or the other. Whatever it says on the actual machine will tell you what it is.

If it is an Autoset, find and download the Clinic Manual. With a titration pressure of 9, I would set the low pressure at 9 and the high pressure at 14 just to start.

Snoring usually indicates the pressure is too low. Note that one night in a sleep lab is not always the best setting to do a titration in the first place so having the machine you own set on APAP therapy will help you judge what is a good pressure (though you will need to get the software and do LOTS of reading on this forum to figure this all out).

If it is the Elite model, then you will be limited to only having one pressure. If it is on 9, I would now try 10 since he is snoring with 9.

Changing the pressure is very easy on either machine, there are two buttons you have to hold down for 3 seconds which give you access to the Clinical menu, from there you can change all the settings, the Clinical Manual tells you all this.

Good luck, note the above is just my own opinion based on experience and info I have learned over time.

Right. The confusion is probably because the clinical manual is a combined manual for both machines. The clinical manual will say both Autoset and Elite on the cover. Sounds like the User manual (or the "Welcome Guide", anyway) is also a combo.

As Jay mentioned, the specific name of the machine will be written out on top of the machine itself. The word Autoset or the word Elite (not both) will be written on the machine.

I have the ResMed Elite and the book that came with the machine was almost worthless. It does say both Elite and Autoset on the booklet. My machine has the name "Elite" above the button on the lefthand side. Yours might say Autoset. Whatever, the name will be on the top of the machine. Any information that I got about my machine I got from people on this website. I downloaded the software, the manual for the software, and the manual for the machine all from links given here. Post an email asking for those items and you will receive help. I can't help you with that but someone here will help you (Yes he will!). There is also a video that gives lots of information about the S9 on http://www.sleepnation.com.

Good luck. You will be fine. The beginning is always overwhelming for everyone, even the lucky ones who have few problems. Read everything that you can read on this forum, ask questions and share any problems that you have. I have never been on a forum with a more caring bunch of people set on helping others.

Cabo, the beginning was a challenge for me also! Saw my provider @ 30 days and they told me I was non-compliant!

I used it each and every night, but through my own ignorance, it wasn't doing anything. I've sinced learned much, mostly through trial and error. No, I did not get a manual with mine, although it was brand spanking new. By the way, whatever you do, please don't email Res Med looking for info on the software. I am able to see all my numbers/charts/graphs, etc... However, I cannot print them. I get an error message and my program shuts right down. Silly me, I emailed their customer support and was told that since I am not a "clinician", I have no business downloading anything or trying to utilize this software. Boy, was I mad. I was only trying to be an educated patient! Keep looking to the people on this site as they seem to know the tricks of the trade! One can learn a lot on here. If neccessary, each night, try one thing differently on your machine and pretty soon, you should have it all set. Best of luck and keep plugging away!

I have been using my machine since December and finally decided to research it a bit. I've read through various posts here and now know how to change the settings and access the sleep reports. Thank you. I was prescribed a setting of 7. My AHI is 0.4 and leak 10.7. I just changed my setting to to 7.4. I need to find out how to download the software and clinical manual please.
