OT: Totally Stressed out and moving

Post by BlackSpinner » Wed Dec 01, 2010 8:48 am

Hi
This is just a vent/rant. Have to do it somewhere and the family is not on this list!

My oldest daughter just accepted a job offer in Whitehorse in the Yukon - That is next door to Alaska! It is a really good job, well paid and a smart career move. She has to be there by mid January. That is the good part. My Granddaughter is alternately excited and up in arms and having meltdowns. The move will be stressful as the relocation amount is just not quite enough to make the transition easy.
It have spent the last 2 days trying to calm and help them get organized. When she moves I get her house, which means I have to find a sub letter for Feb1st and move too and find another roommate. I am still looking for work. Christmas is coming up. My mother out in Edmonton is still sick and doing not well. My sister fell and hurt her hand...

The whole thing is a nightmare. I am not sleeping, I keep having stress headaches. I can't focus.

But I can't share this with her. I will be so glad when they are on that plane!

I have given up on looking for a software job and I am applying for everything in my neighbourhood including waitress at the local Thai restaurant and working at getting my art work into a gallery. But my sewing machine just broke down....

Sleeping is down to 4 hours a night and I.Can't.Sleep.IN!!!
Thank the gods for my cpap machine that when I do sleep at least I get good sleep!

and I got my flu shot last week which meant I have been under the weather.

Putting my "competent Parent" mask back on now - Thank you.

No wonder you're stressed! You've got a lot on your plate right now. At least the cpap is helping you get SOME sleep -- that's a good thing.

I don't have any words of wisdom or anything like that, but how about just a cyber pat on the back?

I hope things calm down for you soon.

Just remember a bad day above ground is better than a good day below.

You will make it through this just have faith. I would like to think that things happen for a reason.

you'll make it... just take a deep breath and let it out slowly.

I know the economy around here is awful as well... hard to find a software job (think I'm getting closer though).

I have given up on that. I have had 4 real interviews in 4 months. It is my age. Also the industry seems to have turned really ugly. The interviews are horrendously stressful what with having to do these crazy technical tests and interviews - that last one was 2 hours long over the phone and that was just the first technical interview - in English and French. At this point a waitress job is looking really really good.

All that any of us can do is make the best of the situation that we're in. Life has its up and downs; it appears that you're in the latter phase. Do you best to keep your spirit up and realize that you have been through a lot of life experiences already and made it all the way to grandmotherhood. There are always (cyber) people on this forum who can least empathize with you. Remember "this too shall pass".

I understand how hard things can be at this moment. I will pray for you, for all the issues you mentioned. Take courage.

Remember that I'm not far from you (maybe 10 or 15 minutes), I'm traveling soon but you can PM me if you need help at the beginning of January. My shoulders are not number one but surely I can help you with something else than the prayers

Rosie

I have admired your strength in the past.
I can only turn it around and say you are an inspiration to others.
Let our strength help carry you forward.
Best wishes.

Hello,
First I want to say that I have enjoyed all your helpful posts on this forum for the year that I have been on Cpap....I truly look forward to reading them. I am sorry that you are dealling with so much right now but it will get better but I am sure that sometimes you cannot always see the light at the end of the tunnel but it is there and I know that because I have lost three loved ones in my family this year...mother, father, brother and life is hard sometimes. You are a strong person and I know that you will find ways to brighten your days ahead. I sort of think a waitress job would be fun...
Good Luck...you deserve it!

I have tears in my eyes from all the good wishes...

This helps so much to know I have friends who care.

My goodness you have a lot on your plate right now. No wonder you are having trouble sleeping. Sending positive thoughts for a new job that you will like!

BlackSpinner,

If you approach this experience the way you do with sleep apnea, then your troubles will be gone. Why worry about what might happen when it is more fun to plot and execute each phase of the move. This way attaining each step will be an accomplishment and reason for celebration!!!!!

Ha but sleep apnea was much easier.

The sewing machine was picked up and is in for repairs. My desk feels naked and embarrassed. But it is one thing off my list.

Well, a couple of things come to mind. First is the adage...how do you eat an elephant? Answer...one bite at a time. The second thing is something my sweet grandfather used to tell me when I was facing something I thought was difficult. He would say, "You are equal to it."

I agree with the other posters in that you have shown strength in the past. It's true you are overwhelmed! Change is awful...especially at the holidays. But remember...one bite at a time...and you are equal to whatever life throws.
