OT: August Birthdays

Post by NotMuffy » Sun Aug 08, 2010 7:28 am

I am staggered by the seemingly huge birthday list sitting down there right now.

What's up with that?

Is it because there were a bunch of cheap bastards who said, "OK, baby, here comes your Christmas present?"

I noticed that earlier, too. Only, my thoughts ran along the lines of that there must have been some long, cold Winters when people were snowed in between Thanksgiving and Christmas of those years.

Tell me about it!

I got stuck behind a lady at Macy's trying to return her "Gift".

LOL, That must be what it is. I work in an OB service. August has a higher birth rate, speculated to be associated with Thanksgiving-Christmas holiday "gatherings." I know what my parents were doing during the Holidays of the late 50's...............I'm proof. My parents were married on August 7th...........I was born August 8th...........................................10 years later. :lol

Guess all of us August birthdays on here show once again how the members here are a cross section of society. I have 2 children, born July 29 and Aug 6, but I just don't remember waiting for cold weather or holidays...

Usually, late summer months see an increase in the number of newborns.

I was thinking that was it, but wasn't quite sure.

I was shocked to find that confirmation for the statistical correlation between the time of conception and the time of birth. Unless I am greatly mistaken, according to my calculations, it appears to be approximately nine months. However, since I have never had a child myself, I cannot verify that estimate by personal experience.

If you mean that according to NotMuffpothesis the CB Christmas "Presents" would result in September babies instead of August babies, SubNotMuffpothesis notes that for some, Christmas came a little early, if you get my drift.
