Chinstrap Trial for PAP-Cap Users

Post by SleepGuy » Wed Jan 06, 2010 6:27 pm

One comment I have seen from several sources is that the actual chinstrap is hard, uncomfortable, and leaves lines.

I have a new type of chinstrap with fewer seams, made out of soft flannel, and using a new elastic loop material with a lot more grip than the Velstretch.

I am looking for 15 or so current PAP-Cap users to send me their mailing address for a free chinstrap.

This is for just the detachable chinstrap--not the cap.

All I need is a mailing address sent to bret@pursleep.com.

THANKS!

Me, too! FYI, I can potentially make the fit work OVER my headgear what doesn't work under it. I'd be very excited to try a different strap material.

When you contact me please verify that you already have a PAP-Cap.

This trial will only work if you already have the cap.

Thanks,

SG

By the way I am working on an entirely new product that has resulted in me sleeping in till all hours on my cpap... I can't wait to get it out there and see if others have the same experience.

Shucks. I would think that that Respironics Basic White chin strap would work great w/the PAPCap. It has a nice, comfortable, silky chin "saddle" and then just a 1 inch (I think, maybe 3/4 inch) strap off each side of the chin "saddle" and comes w/4 small velcro squares to attach those straps to that you place ANYWHERE on your mask headgear - or in this case - on the PAPCap - as needed. This allows you to position the chin strap so that it doesn't push your chin and jaw backward. Where to position the chin saddle straps is going to vary from person to person.

Everyone who has contacted me (who has a cap) will receive a new chinstrap portion only next week. If you signed up for this trial and don't already have a PAP-Cap please let me know. The chinstrap does not function by itself so it will do you no good.

I like it very much.

The elastic loop is quite a bit different and has a lot more horsepower and hence more versatility.

The fabric is flannel, double thickness--very soft, comfortable, plush. I am trying to find a thinner flannel. I am concerned about how "hot" this might run for people. So far it's outstanding for me--not an issue at all.

The chinstrap has only one seam. For added comfort the seam can be oriented to the outside, so that the fabric under the chin is simply the doubled over flannel. I used to have a nice red mark under my chin but no more! It didn't bother me but it obviously has been a problem for others, so I think at least that problem is solved going forward.

I will also be circulating a rather detailed Questionnaire on the PAP-Cap generally. Detailed responses will help me be able to get the product into wider distribution--so thanks in advance!

Any other PAPCap users who want to join, please follow the directions at the top.
