Rainout of a different kind.

Post by carbonman » Tue Oct 20, 2009 8:57 am

How do you itch an itch, under your mask?
You don't.
You train yourself to over come and prevail.
It's a Zen thing.

What do you do when the rainout in your mask is from....
......an internal source?
If I do my jala neti sinus rinse too close to mask time,
I will get a couple of drops of residual leak , in my mask.
Talk about controlling the urge to rip your mask off....
but it usually evaporates away ......it's a Zen thing.

Last night I had some of that internal, residual rainout...
only this time, it made it's way to the exhaust holes.
It was atomized and I got an eye spritzer.
....coool and refreshing....but not conducive to sleep.

You just never know what the cpap experience is going to bring you.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."

One of our forum members, mentioned a year or so? ago to use the eraser end of an un-sharpened pencil kept for the purpose[/i] which is a GREAT idea. I keep meaning to try it 'cauze my method - finger - isn't efficient (end up with most of my hand jamming the mask almost completely off-face).

So tonight for sure that pencil will be by my cpap setup - thanks carbonman for the topic! Will be interesting to see what others have to share.

I guess we nasal-pillows users miss out on some of those joys of the zen of the mask.

One night I had to make a trip to the bathroom so I took my mask off and laid it on the nightstand. When I got back I put it on and started the machine and immediately felt something pinging around inside the mask and hitting my face. All I could think of was a spider and I freaked - ripped the mask off, started jumping up and down, turned on all the lights. I never did find out what it was but now I have this fear of something being in my mask and check it every time before I put it on.

Oh great! This had never crossed my mind! now I'm going to have spider paranoia when I put my mask on!!

I'll bet it was kind of hard to fall back to sleep after having your heart race like that! Thats the worst.

..this is true...but....FFM'ers miss out on
lip gluing , lip taping , wearing panty hose on your head ,
headgear mutilation and being man enough to buy your own Lansinoh.

If you are a nasal person that has come out of the darkside of the closet,
you have done many of those nasal things and are well on
your way to the total cpap experience.

We're having fun now.....aren't we?

Lost his hat and spent the rest of the night hidden under the bed. You have no idea how I fear spiders!

Miss smarty here thought she had rainout resolved. Bought a darling pink cover that goes great in my pink and white bedroom. Alas, I live in Iowa with its ever changing weather. After two weeks of cold rain and running my furnace yesterday's high temp was a balmy 67*. No furnace tonight! Around 1:00 AM woke up with so much water in my nasal pillow it left a spot on my sheets when I ripped off my mask to avoid drowning. Guess I'm either going to have to buy one of those hose heater thingys or adjust my humidity every night.

Love the pencil idea. Will a pen work too?

Carbonman,

Interesting for those of us newbies to hear that even a CPAP veteran "know-it-all" runs into this stuff as well. All a part of being in our wonderful club. And if you find that spider, dip it into chocolate. Very tasty I understand.

I've done none of those things myself, but I hear ya.

Does my mandibular advancement device and homemade chinstrap count, though?

jeff

ps- I hear spider-torture is a Class 3 misdemeanor in two states.

It will...but only if uncapped. Also, an uncapped Sharpie will work, with the added benefit of the aroma lulling you back to sleep. However, depending on your choice of color, you may get strange looks at work the next day.

It's the dynamic adventure that is cpap.
...like a box of chocolates.

...yea, that all counts.

.....mandibular advancement..... if you stick w/that,
do you eventually get a degree or certified or something?
Just curious.

Maybe somewhat evil, yes, but in an endearing sort of way.
