Something that might work for nose rubs

Post by rise&shiner » Thu Oct 15, 2009 12:22 pm

I am always looking for new things to help with being compliant. As a new user of the Comfort Gel FF I wanted to see if I could find something other than tape or mole skin to prevent redness and soreness on the bridge of my nose. And lo and behold I found something that for me is working great. It is put out by Band-aid and it is call the Friction Block stick (looks like a mini version of deodorant with same kind of consistency but with no fragrance)
I have been putting it on the bridge of my nose for the last few nights and have been waking up in the morning with no redness and no soreness.

it cost me $7.99 for a lot less than the size of deodorant but I think that it will last a long long time before I have to buy another stick.

Thanks for the tip. Does it have any petroleum in it?

That looks like a great solution! Thanks for posting that.

I see hikers using it (I prefer duct tape) on the trail and never thought about using it on the bridge of my nose. I don't need it with the Hybrid mask which doesn't touch the bridge. But if I start using my traditional FF mask more often, I will try to remember Band-Aid Friction Block. Thanks.

So, where did you find it? I looked in a couple of big box pharmacies last night, without luck.

I got mine at Rite Aid, but probably Walgreens and CVS sell it also. If you can't find it still find it you probably can get it at drugstore.com

The CVS near me has it. I'll bet others do, too. With Bandaids, adhesive tapes, etc.

Great tip! Thanks for posting it!

Also, just in case it doesn't work for you, dear reader at a later date, see my link below to http://www.Padacheek.com, where you can find all kinds of pads for making your mask more comfortable AND Karen will gladly make you a custom pad to your specifications.

Cheers,
Barbara

I found it at Walgreens with the Bandaids. It's small, easy to miss. Going to try it tonight.

Excellent heads-up, so thanks to the OP for mentioning this product.

Friction Block is listed online as being available at CVS and Walgreen's. I found it today at my local Fry's grocery (Kroger) for $5.99.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))
