Help, my aussie heated hose is not working
Help, my aussie heated hose is not working
I made sure it was plugged in correctly, the plug is warm, and I tried the outlet on my clock. I made sure the connection was good and tight at the plug / hose position. Any ideas? It is less than a year old and I have been very careful with it. Thanks

Do you, by any chance, have a volt-ohm meter or digital multimeter?

I don't have a volt ohm meter but will go get one. Any ideas
as a best place to get one? Thanks

My own problem was solved when I got a new power supply -- and I got a 2.5 amp one, which doesn't change the heat the hose generates -- but keeps the power supply from getting overwhelmed by the hose's power demands and overheating. Won't a new power supply be cheaper that a volt ohm meter?

Re: Help, my aussie heated hose is not working
You can pick up a cheap digital multimeter at Radio Shack or even Home Despot
First disconnect the hose from the power supply.
You want to set the meter to measure DC Volts (25 volt or more scale) and measure the voltage supplied where the hose plugs into the supply. I believe that the supply is supposed to put out 12 V DC. If you don't find the voltage the supply is bad.
You also want to set the meter to measure resistance (Ohms) and measure between the two pins on the hose plug. A good hose should give you a reading of around 6 ohms. A bad hose will read as an open circuit (the meter will read the same as before you connected it to the hose.)
