Aussie hose

I purchased an Aussie Hose a little over a year ago and it worked very well. Stopped the rainout completely. Recently it has stopped working. Rainout has returned. I paid over 150 dollars for the hose and feel that it should certainly work for more than a year. I've misplaced the original warranty, if there ever was one. Has this happened to anyone else and can they refer me to a reliable dealer? Despite the problems I would buy one again because I need it and it worked. Thanks

There was a post not too long ago about the center pin no longer making contact. Maybe you could try searching some.

In my case I dropped the brick just into the second year and shattered it. Took it to Radio Shack and said they didn't have one like it. I ended up buying another Aussie hose made by the same folks but purchased from an internet vendor in the US. The brick is much better and I like the cover material better, too. That avoided the shipping hassles. I agree that it should last longer than that but I don't recall what the warranty is. More than 1 year would seem unusual to me but it certainly wouldn't hurt to check!

If you have a multimeter, check the AC voltage coming out of the power supply. Also if you run a continuity test on the plug for the hose it should indicate if there is a break in the wire that supplies the heat in the hose. If it is broken there will be no connection if it is not you will have connection. A multi meter can be obtained for very little money at an auto parts store.

The center pin on the power supply plug most likely may not be contacting the inside of the plug that comes from the hose.

It happened to me in the summer.
Bought a replacement power supply - the plug didn't connect well. No heat. (Linus hadn't posted his simle solution at the time...).

Bought a second replacement power supply - 2.5 amps. instead of 2 amps - the hose is working perfectly, and the power supply isn't overloaded.
