Sexual Molestation at the Sleep Lab

ELYRIA — A former Amherst sleep lab technician has pleaded no contest to charges he groped five women that sought therapy at the lab.

Sometimes I dream about being molested by several beautiful women all at once ... but I guess it is just the PAP therapy taking me into the realm of REM.

I can see a funny side to most things but making light of an issue of a subject such as sexual molestation is going way to far! Don't forget that around one in 4 women have been sexually molested to varying degrees at some stage in their lives adn it is now thought that the figures for males are not much better- I am a survivor of sexual abuse the went on for a number of years at the hand of a family member- to say that it has had a lasting effect on my personal life owuld be an understatement- So dreamstalker, next time you make light over an issue have some thought for others who may find it hard to see teh funny side- i am 47 years old and i can honestly say that it is only in the last few years that i have been able to see news items about sexual abuse and molestation without having flashbacks and nightmares about my own expereinces- it still happens occasionally so this is far from a funny issue as far as i am concerned

I'm very sorry for your terrible experience and I was most certainly NOT making light of YOUR experience (did not even know about it til now).

However, please be aware that I cannot censor myself on every possible experience that anyone who reads this forum may have had ... I just couldn't even if I tried. I would instead suggest that you censor yourself from reading any posts that MAY offend you or better yet not read any posts written by me.

Of course that would mean that you never will read my response to your post.

I agree with you 100%! This is NOT a subject to make light of or to joke about in any way. None of us know what some others on this forum are dealing with in their lives that has nothing to do with sleep apnea. As a community that cares, we should think before we post!

Well maybe telling others who can't think to their level of satisfaction is offensive. Saying that I don't think just because I'm mentally challenged is NOT a subject to make light of. You don't know what some of us on this forum are dealing with in their lives that has nothing to do with sleep apnea. Although Dreamstalker doesn't need me or anyone to defend him, I think I'll have to agree with Slinky on this one. Dreamstalker gives some helpful advice here and is usually good for a laugh although not on this subject. I'm so sorry for what you had to endure in your life and I know this will always be with you, so I'd probably never have opened a topic like this for exactly that reason. It would seem to be the perfect solution to avoiding exposure to a subject one might find offensive. I took DreamStalker's post and a few of the others to be humorous takes on fictional situations. Nobody attempted to portray the actual act of sexual molestation as humorous or acceptable. I think this era of Political Correctness that we live in serves no purpose except that of censoship. We could probably find 50% of what we say, innocently, offensive to some portion of the population.

I had a friend die of lung cancer... so, do I freak out whenever I see someone smoking a cigarette? No! And my friend who died in a car accident... do I freak out when I see another car? No... especially when the subject line is about a car accident.

Grow some thicker skin. The only way the rest of the world can kick your ass is if you let them.

This type of behavior is deviant and obviously unacceptable. It's unfortunate at least 5 woman reported the unwanted touching of their bodies while seeking medical services. Equally concerning, many sleep labs also serve children who may or may not be accompanied by a caregiver. It's unfortunate this type of deviant behavior ever occurs in any setting--medical, home, school, streets. Reminds me of the dentist who used gas to subdue patients to create opportunity for sexual assault...it took several sexual assaults before being stopped!!!!

Kebsa, I'm sorry you had such deviant behavior directed to you and wish you well. I hope for all of us an absence of personal violence and an intolerance of sexual violence in any setting.

I agree that true sexual or any other for that matter kind of molestation is not funny. Having said that, I don't think that anyone here has attempted to make light of that. I think that political correctness will ruin this great country unless we all ignore the calls to condemn anything and everything that might offend someone at any given time.
